If you don't want your language damaged you might concider not using the term "intellectual property" either, as RMS puts it, Anyone using that term has either been fooled, or are trying to fool you.
Information can't be stolen and labeling it "property" in any way is problematic and leads to misconceptions like these.
This is exactly what the music and movie industry need to do to actually stay relevant, provide content as a service not as imaginary product with engineered scarity.
What if next time RMS decides (say under the pretence of intellectual freedom or some crap like that) he doesn't like country music and that free software mustn't be used in any part of the process of creating or playing country music? Who'd be there to stop him? Or how?"
Anyone using other free software licenses without this limitation.
Ow, synthesized orchestral music is not the most pleasant thing to listen to, even when it is real classical music. However, i have just the idea they need. Why not use a real orchestra?
Just make the network monitors output sheetmusic on little screens for all the musicians. This will lead to a few seconds delay in the music, but nothing beats the real thing you know!
So, if i just visit microsoft.com once with the intention of bringing their webserver to a halt, I have commited a felony? Or do i have to refresh once,..twice?
Mind you, for successful p2p downloading, there has to be another person at the other end uploading. If this is still illegal, then not much has changed really. This was actually the case in sweden until not too long ago.
Note that this program is only free as in beer and is not Free Software. If you are looking for free as in speech 3d-modellers and renderers, look at http://blender3d.org/, an exellent and highly advanced program.
Not as much of a joke as you migth think. For example, ids ported q3 uses OSS, wich is kind of deprecated now and doesnt even work with all soundcard drivers (i have to hack it through esddsp to get mmap-stuff to work), with the program released as free software anyone is allowed to make it work with ALSA, JACK, or whatever they see fit.
Not really. The difference is that you DO have the ability to check through the code, and some people will probably do so. I'm not saying that it is always safe, but it is indeed much safer than running random executables wich could contain anything without anyone being able to detect it.
There's a reason why most spyware isn't free software you know.
In my opinion the biggest issue isnt that the program is windows only, it is that its non-free. I wouldnt trust my government to run code on my computer that i dont know shit what it does.
"In our nature" , with that argument you can defend almost anything, rape has been going on for quite some time you know.
In my opinion it all boils down to the question "when is it alright to kill?"
I'd say, when its in self defence/preservation. I wouldnt blame you eating that lamb if the choise was for you to die, as i wouldnt blame a wolf for doing the same.
You migth say its ok to kill when you feel that bacon sandwich urge. Well i think thats hypocrital if anything.
It really has nothing to do with how many you kill, it has to do with who you kill. Therefore, the WTC attack is considered a great evil, while Saddams gasings wasn't at the time (however, in retrospect it is convenient, since the USA is now no longer allies with him.)
Woulnt it be neat to build a system for sharing idle cpu-time?
Just imagine the enormous amount of "wasted" cycles that could be utilized. If everyone that participated in this network installed software that was capable of computing certain things, maybe for rendering or compiling or whatever. Then when you wanted something compiled you just sent out lil chunks of work and the global net of cpus could compute this and send you back the results.
A ratio system could even be used to prevent misuse, like, the more cycles you contribute, the more you can use.
Yes it is, FSF lists the BSD licence as a free software license. Tho the original version has certain "flaws" that renders it incompatible with the GNU GPL.
"What has Stallman done that's original thought"
He like STARTED the whole free software movement, enough said imo.

A very successful project that started as a in-house proprietary tool is the 3d modeller Blender.

You just cannot see all sides of the cube simultaneously, just as with it's 3d-counterpart.

In fact it was: Micro-soft
It also allows people not to collaborate.
Uh, How about Mac users? gnu/linux users, or free software-ethical people at all?
How the heck did this get modded up to 4?

Luckily, the people with power has found a great cure for intelligent consumers. I believe they call it Ads.
yes they represent hard work and dedication, but really they can just be created out of thin air by the game designers.
sounds like most "intellectual property" to me.

Are there networks like these already?
isn't the public not understanding that "piracy" is theft, its the industry not understanding that it isn't.
Too bad there are only versions for macOS and Windows, I havnt been able to find any _working_ taggers for gnu/linux at all.
"to him BSD is not free"
;)

And of course he's a saint

Actually, GNU people say GNU/Linux ;)
And the primary concern of GNUheads is freedom, not price.
From what i've read they scrapped that idea cause they where afraid that the PS2-versions sales would suffer.
