    Going through the pictures, this one (http://www.scaled.com/projects/tierone/photos/ima ges/video/14p_1b.jpg) taken at 200k ft is breath taking, however lossy in quality. I couldn't imagine what 328k ft would look like.

    The keygen(a very very very popular one) generates product keys in the range 640-645. My PID is XXXXX-648-XXXXXXX-XXXXX and it was done with the original key gen that was put out ;-) I suspect that Microsoft WILL be blacklisting more keys, but I doubt they'll get everyone, it's nearly impossible. And yes, I'm running Corporate with SP1 applied, with my own genned key. Come get me MS.

    Anyway, the FCC came in and turned their power down to the legal limit. You can't get their station from 4 floors below their antenna anymore.
    Why not just put rebroadcasters at every two floors? The FCC couldn't do jack because they were only broadcasting at whatever the legal limit was.

    Sounds like progress to me. Mr Valenti sounded like he was willing to listen and do something about this.
    I believe he was just saving face. A legal DVD player for Linux would be bad. Right now, they aren't coming after home users for watching CSS encrypted DVDs on their linux boxen. It is impossible to do! They would require in house inspections, etc. If such a player was released, they would try to crack down, and then they could have the arguement that "We've made one, so use it." even if the player is utter shit. However, an addition to the DCMA, or whatever it would be required. Something along the lines of decryption for the sole purpose of realtime playback, by any means would work quite well.

    Write a linux driver to interface directly with the lcd, and GPL it, along with specs.

    Well, speak for yourself. Last year I got a NEW computer. (XP 2200+) My previous box was a Pentium 1 w/ MMX, 233Mhz w/ 32mb ram.

    Not everyone can drop X amount of dollars on a mac. PCs are can be ~$300 (www.robotnik.com). Now, do I get a 2.4Ghz Celeron for $300, or a $1700 Mac... hmmm.

    It just isn't feasable.

    The only viable alternative to Windows IS Linux, because with Apple's offerings, you need new hardware. With Linux you pop in a cd, install, etc and you're good to go (yes, very simplified). With Apple's offerings you go to the local Best Buy, or Fry's or Futureshop or whatever, and drop a couple grand on a new computer.

    It's been stated before that people like free stuff. Linux is free. Mac OS X is not free. (if you're talking beer)

    Telemarketers were around in '69. Because if they were, they might have thought that the internet, or whatever they called it (I didn't RTF RFC) wouldn't become a haven for such evil things such as spam, and worms.

    It just saddens me to see that they could be carefree back then, not worrying about anything... and us having to pay the fucking piper. *sigh*

    Microsoft learned some hard lessons from the X-Box. They were selling them at a loss, and then people started to put linux on them, or putting a larger hard drive into it and a new dashboard. They could copy the games onto the harddrive, and not need the DVD.

    I doubt they're going to do something idiotic again, but... it is microsoft...
