"...doing what is best for the american economy is the "only" thing alan greenspan has to worry about."
No, deliberately inflating the money supply without causing bank runs is all Alan Greenspan has to worry about. Read this if you want the real story (it's short and it's free, so you don't have any reason not to).
I admit, I was one of the folks frightened away by the term "double-entry bookkeeping", so I started using CBTracker instead. It's a nice little checkbook program that's simpler than Quicken but is quite adequate for most people.
Considering that everything a government spends was first taken from the taxpayers, it seems that the least a government can do is to NOT send OSS developers money. With all of those unproductive eyeballs on the software, the bureaucrats can identify bugs. There's your payback!
I haven't watch TV in weeks. Inevitably, though, someone will ask, "Did you see *** last night?" I say, no, so they proceed to tell me all about it. To think we'd have nothing to talk about otherwise...
You're more correct than you realize. Saving, rather than consumption, is the engine that creates capital production and economic growth. More importantly, it's the only thing that can.
A Reveal Codes option in OOo would indeed be a Word killer. Another great feature would be the ability to import old WP docs (I've got 'em, you've got 'em). It'd be nice if Corel would simply contribute a bit to the OOo effort instead of going their own way.
Humph. Some asshole censored the pics!
I had a friend who would call in sick, saying something was wrong with his eyes. He just didn't see himself coming into work that day!
Sounds like a classic "broken Windows" fallacy.
At first glance I thought it read, "God, why am I doing this?"
You can have that now. Surf +5, Troll.

How much could be saved by eliminating the federal government entirely?

Look at what the welfare/warfare state is doing right now, and ask yourself what value you're getting for your money.
