It is interesting to note that the MPAA is going out there and shutting these sites down. They are definately working to work with these groups in other countries to crack down on these people. And I understand why. Recently in India the CEO of Bazzee was arrested and put in jail. Bazzee.com is India's ebay.com ( it is administered and run by ebay etc...), and the CEO was arrested and put in jail because some guy was selling a video of some girl blowing him.
So what makes it all so funny is that the guy went to the coutry to help figure out who was selling pornographic materials etc..
This is absurd, there are diffrent laws in different countries and they look at copyright and other violations differently, but I do agress that criminal law should be done by the police protect women getting beaten by there husbands, violent crimes etc..
And all these forms of "slynes/civl" law breaking activities let them be handled by people who know the law. Have any of you tried to explain the law to a police officer. He has no idea, his thing is to keep peace and to avoid property damage.
But then you can argue that copyrights are a type of property and that the police must go out and stop these acts.
I personally think stop downloading music make your own.
2ndly stop watching downloaded movies read a book go outside, flirt with the neighbors wife ( I try ).
Just don't let any email server in China to send email. Block all incomming chinesse email server requests. Why not they block rest of the world's 'free information' why not block there messages to rest of the world.
(Just allow the universities, definately no goverment and some web hosting companies )
I mean this is not a nice soln. but then after a few months the goverment will enforce there rules. If they can play hard so can we. Then all we would need is chinesse food workers to go on strike.
Solution is to pressure the goverment into havin antispam policies.
We stopped believing in Magic, when we were 5,6,7, or even 8. But this is amazinglgy great, and news worthy, if the site did not as of yet get slashdotted the QT slide show is kick ass and well made. I wish I could do this.
PS be glad these baloons are not made of hydrogen.
I wisth the news monoply broadcased this information.
Rock On Balkoon Man..
The way to write 11GBps is to use a distributed array of disks. A parllel filesystem can easily handle it. Over a 100 networked computers with a parallel filesystem like Lustre, GPFs or PVFS( 1,2 and 3.... is there a 3 ?) can do it. I mean there are disk arrays that have sustained throughput of over 55GBps. Also the 11GBps that we see now may one day used for having all sorts of communication going through it so in a way it is a way of the future.
That Taipei 101 buidling is really really really big, man have you seen pictures of it... Ok so all they need to do is put one extremly large access point on top of that building and everyone can get coverage. But then put repeaters up where there is a loss of signal. But the most important thing here is that they have that big building and they are gonna have the world's largest wifi grid. Move over New York cause here com Taipei....
Thanks for clarifying it up. Now I understand better. It will be a wicked day when we get HDTV cards to interface to our tvs. I also am making my own MythTV box using a PVR 250. Will not go HDTv for some time until we figure out what all the humdrum is about but yeah seriously this write up that you have here is pretty cool. Very informative and maybe someday we can get some sort of interface between a MythTV box and a cable/satellite HDTV box that will allow us to control channels and also save the HDTV stream.
thanks so much take care
PS I once downloaded a HDTV mpeg2 stream ( about 10 seconds ) and tried playing it on my computer and it was slow ( my cpu usage was at 100%) very choppy and also the sound was of sync. I can understand that HDTV sends out a lot of data and wether or not a normal computer can handle it.
Thanks take care
Good luck being Mayor:)
Ok this is what really gets me. OTA broadcasts are just mpeg2 and their are a handful of cards that allow you to do it.
But for satellite you will need to set the system you need to decrypt the signal and then save it before being decoded. What do you mean by decoded, that is the MPEG-2 stream being played ?
Now I don't get the firewire thing, what is the whole firewire buisness, do you just suck some of the hdtv broadcast out of the box using firewire and save that somwhere ??
thanks
take care

I never knew that, wow gotta subscribe to the SCI-FI channel but I was wondering where I can go and get some more information about the 4 charcters ? thanks take care -A
Say what you may, I use Firefox on all my ( windows, Linux, OSX, AIX, Solaris ) systems. I have taught other people such as relatives and firends the joy of Firefox, and they too have switched over too the new browser. Firefox is a revolution of people getting what they want from the web back. With a search bar, adblocking and pop up blocking, and support for all the major plugins ( like flash and java etc...) Firefox is now the most nicest browser out their. And many websites are fixing themselves to work with FireFox.
yo! man that is the best idea i have ever heard. Thanks for the info let the revolution begin.
I wonder if there are other ways to fight big-daddy corps using such public messaging methods. That was a real good idea
I want to email it to the execs and managers at EA, they suck. Maybe we should give some one money via paypal so he can put up a big "bill-board"/poster over / near the EA headquaters with saying EA managers are nasty.
PS I always keep my managers home phone numbers and addresses in case they cross my path and squash my toes.
Never ever let anyone ever take your selfworth.
Long live the revolution.
EA programmers should leak out there source code to the OpenSource Community.
what do you say EA....
EAt this bitch..
Fedora Core is like a normal Car. A four door family sedan.
Suse is a sports car inside a family sedan.
Suse also has nicer kernels.
Redhat Kernels are just...
Actually the speed is a function of a linpack problem size with communication functionality with the different cpus. Each linpack for each supert computer is highly highly optimized. They have mathematicians hacking FORTRAN libraries trying to get the last bit of performance out of the system.
yeah do you know how many processors the NASA machine needs and also the ammount of power thost Itanium chips suck up. Also the Nasa machine has a scalability problem. It doesn't like doing certain configurations. This is what you get... so what if NASA's SGI system goes at 80TF. Bluegen will beat it by size, cooling, and cpu too.. Also the BlueGene machine has 2 FPU.
take care
actually it can play doom, it might not have the opengl but it can play doom3. It is based on a ppc architecture with a good linux ppc virtual machine you can paralellise Doom3 for BlueGene.
Bluegen hitting over 70TF is a tremendous effort. There is nothing that comes near. And this is only 16 racks ( 25% of the total system) of the 64 rack system. Hats off to IBM for doing an outstanding job. And to the others in the race better luck next year.
Also this runs ppc chips what else do you want an Itanium/Opteron what you want radiation burns.....
PS I posted this on thursday night but the moronic slashdot editor threw it out. This is old news... Anyway... C'est la vie.
IBM has bluegene/l at 70TF here is the link check it out PS my slashdot post got rejected. Screw you SCO, hope you get heamroids and have to eat Tahi food the rest of your existence

I agree with you on the issues where you say that nuclear power is not a sustainable source. The problem is that even if we do have fission reactors we will end up with some decayed materials that have two good uses. One either for making weapons or using them in a fast breeder reactor which further uses the materials for its own use. In short we will have tons and tons of nuclear waste storage sites. Nuclear powerplants ( usually in the US) have been prone to problems with disposing coolant, leaks and contamination of the surrounding areas. Yes they are safe after many years of running. But they have got better in the last 20 years. America has not built a new nuclear power plant due to the problems with safety designs and certain faliures. Fission seems very likely in the future, but the main thing is that we have to run our cars and homes and other "stuff" at higher efficiencies. In Oberlin College at Oberlin, Ohio their is an enviormental sciences building that has all these features to save power and and use waste by products and recycle them to get energy etc. America is a very gun-ho(e) country where people like to do things no matter what rest of the world does ( look at women's voting rights and slavery etc...). Americans just ignore the fact that there suburban homes with their cars will not last very long because of a limites source of oil. There are two versions to this theory and one of them is that either we run out and think about it when it happens and the second one is more optimistic that says that we will evolve out of the dependence on oil. As humans have done from wood and coal burning times. But there is always a cost-benefit ratio. And it differs from society to society. And the cost beneifit of having these hybrid cars and maybe other forms of transportation. In short they should be more cheaper avaialable for people to use. I mean there is no reaon for Hummer on a street. If you guys see a Hummer on the street honk at it and flash your lights and flick them off. Make them feel "Un-Wanted" or "un-welcomed". Where I live now I have access to wind power, and I signed up for about 50% of my electricity to come from that source. And I do have a car which I drive to work maybe twice a week( I wake up really late like 10 or so ) and rest of the time I walk or take the company shuttle. We all must do our part. Nuclear power is not a solution but rather a path in the right step. But to use electricity for combustionable transportation I would recomend using hydrogen powered vehicles but then there are other issues with hydrogen being "explosive" ( not just flamabale ). So..... the future will tell. What do you guys think of the new hyrbid cars comming out?
I am not quite sure how City of Heroes is set up and it seems that you cannot leave City-1 and go to City-2 due to some reason or the other. I was wondering if you could travel by a Train over a period of days there, so all the database stuff can be synced up and you won't loose your character ? Another thing that I think would be cool if their was something like your City of Heroes Character can go back in time to and save people or get teleported back into the past and have some sort of story along those lines. But definately CoH is a kick ass game.
I was wondering if City of Heroes ( which I played at a friends house ) can be available on for a Linux x86 based system? I seem to have used up all my money making my 100% Linux compatiabale Athlon 64 and so did not have any money to buy a Microsoft Windows License.
I just hope Paris Hilton doesn't get one :)
