There are many possible reasons for a darker roast.
When coffee is roasted, it loses it's unique flavor and takes on a more homogenized flavor. Starbucks can get their coffee from anywhere, mix it together and get a consistant flavor by roasting it dark.
Am I the only one who thinks that this is a completely unreasonable BPM to work with? 148.5 I could understand.
Ah well... perhaps I can hack up a remix in spite of that.
I couldn't agree more. When someone plays video games, or any other activity to an obsessive level, certain corners will be cut. For me those corners are: cleaning my room, showering, shaving. For someone still attending school, the thing cut out is probably study time.
The age of consent, in many states is less than 18, possibly as low as 16. Now, the age of consent as it relates to pornography is 18, regardless. The problem here is that young girls are listing themselves here for sexual activity, which is considered pornography. This is the situation with many personal ads websites, and such. This is really a confusing issue, and I think there probably needs no be reform.
Here's a few pointers for sharing stuff on a school network.
1) Don't use windows filesharing. 2) Try these things called VPNs... you can use them very easily with Windows XP. 3) Use FTP... or better yet, SCP to transfer files with your friends. 4) Create a secret underground ring of illegal file swappers. 5) If you find that the RIAA is snooping at your school do whatever you can to thwart them. This includes: Creating false traffic, Sharing false video files, Creating a barrage of media traffic from one PC to another, Use disclaimers on your FTP servers and other filesharing devices.
I doubt what you are saying is true. From what I have seen, the Creationist/ID (not the same thing, I know) movement has resulted primarily in Evolutionism preached more dogmatically, and media smearing of Creationism/Intelligent design becoming more frequent. Simply by attacking the credentials of supporters, or by making the claim that it is "not science", it is possible now to just write them off without having to deal with the tough questions. And there are plenty of tough questions. Perhaps eventually all three campaigns (Evolutionism, Creationism, and ID) will sort out their differences, but all I see right now is a heated battle of rhetoric that quite frankly disgusts me. Seriously, people, grow up!
This sounds like something I would find in low level dungeons in Angband...
You hit the slime mold.

And from now on we shall call any movie that gets a PG-13 rating or higher "adult entertainment"...seriously people, this idea is lame and needs to be shot. dead.
To the anti-theists I know, Christianity is as obviously false as Santa Claus.
They may think what they wish, but they aren't even in the same ball park. Take Santa Claus, since that is the topic at hand. We can know that Santa Claus doesn't exist. Why? Because he IS made up. You can ask any parent that buys presents for his or her children. They know Santa is made up because they ARE Santa. Santa and the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny... it's all the same thing. It wasn't ever intended to be more than a harmless deception of children. Religion, on the other hand claims to know truth on some level. This may seem like a small difference, and it has no bearing on whether it is false or not. Take it how you will.
What I was refering to was not Christianity (although I do believe it is the most feasible religion for a great number of reasons), but simply belief in a higher power.
That's incorrect. There's a third option. I don't know how the universe started. I probably never will.
Ah, yes, the agnostic view. Never really thought about that. Well, you got me there! Mad respect.
When I mentioned a leap of faith, I'm not talking about obviously false things (i.e. Santa Claus). I'm talking big things that we can't comprehend without some sort of leap of faith. Take big bang theory for example: there is simply no way to know what happened before the big bang. With my example before regarding evolutionism vs. ID, where the only difference is the presence or absence of God, tracing it back to the time when time began (i.e. the big bang) still leaves no answers. It is absurd to think that this universe just happened on it's own, and we just happened to crawl out of it. On the other hand, it is equally absurd to think that there is this supreme being of some sort making things work. This is where ID branches from athiesm. At a crossroads of absurdity. You have to take a leap of faith. Either you somehow manage to believe that the universe created itself out of nothing and we popped out or you somehow manage to believe that there is this God that designed us with a purpose in a seemingly purposeless existence. It comes down to faith no matter how you slice it.
I disagree. The evolution that gets taught in high school isn't controversial science, and intelligent design isn't science at all; it's theology.
At the risk of sounding like a nutcase, allow me to discuss theology.
Theology. Theology is the study of God. Intelligent Design theory basically states that since things are too complicated to have happend on their own, there is a need for a God, or higher power or some other such creator being. It doesn't ask "why do good things happen to bad people?" or other such Theological issues. ID is not theology.
The problem most christians have with evolution is not that it disagrees with the Bible... there are plenty that manage to believe in evolution alongside the Bible with no apparent difficulties (I disagree, but lets move on). The problem is that science is taught as a religion: atheism. The premise behind all "good science" is that God does not exist. Thinking logically about our origins, neither option is more or less absurd. They each go back to the point where it cannot be explained without faith of some sort. Let's assume for the sake of the argument that Intelligent Design is refering to theistic evolution (i.e. God used evolution). Both models of explaining our origins are the same scientifically, but with one small difference: the existence or non-existence of God. Going back to your comment about Theology: is this what you meant? The existence or non-existence of God? Either one could very well be the case, but hardcore evolutionists manage to say that God does not exist. Is this a leap of faith? hell yes! This is atheology at it's finest.
Uh... what was the article about again? Maybe I should read it so I don't look stupid...;) oh wait I'll just make a joke...
1) Forget to read article 2) Make ill-informed comments on slashdot 3) Criticize grammar 4) ??? 5) Profit!
You know, there is more to science than evolution. Like, uh, let me think, uh... TECHNOLOGY! HELLO PEOPLE! The article isn't even related to that! After seeing the bulk of the replies here, I am convinced that Slashdot is the reason that the U.S. is trailing ECONOMICALLY in science. You guys rely loose. no rely, you do.
I don't see whats so silly about the go menu. I personally think that it is amazing. You have instant access to searches from google, amazon, wikipedia, etc., AND it's customizable, so if I don't want amazon on the list, I can take it off... or I could add new ones with a visit to the add engines option.
hmm... maybe someone can make an extention that reports a different certification number for all your extention... but then that extention itself would have to keep being updated regularly...
I've had similar results. Even to the point where windows takes roughly 20 minutes to shut down. I switched back to AVG and couldn't be happier. AVG still does a great job, and has saved my butt on a number of different occations.
Most places I have been, there has been no electronic music radio station. Since that is predominantly what I listen to, I am forced to go to the internet, there is no choice for me.
Sure, this keeps some third party accessories, controllers, memory cards, etc. from being produced, but is this really a bad thing? Seriously, the third party stuff usually sucks badly. The controllers don't work as well, the memory cards eat your saves... need I go on? The only possible problem is that it gives Microsoft a monopoly on this stuff. The upside is that the third parties that are willing to pay up may be able to keep Microsofts prices in check, which is all I really care about anyway... I'm not going to buy an off brand controller. Plus, they still have to compete with Sony, which made a strong case for the PS3 at E3, so prices aren't going to get too crazy regardless.
What about Ewan McGregor? He looks and acts like a young William Shatner.

So someone hacks a server and 19,000 new customers are created as a result? HOLY CRAP! YOUR RETARDED!

They are restricting usage of their own information? This somehow isn't a form of misinformation? What are they afraid of... the truth?
This is nothing short of a cowardly move on their part.
