As much as I hate Europeans, I have to agree. There's a reason that I drive a manual base model Camaro with power nothing, and it isn't just because it was dirt cheap. I refuse to hand control over a 3300lb vehicle capable of more than a hundred miles per hour over to a computer mass produced by the lowest bidder that's running code written by an overworked programmer.

Not at all. The outage actually caused me to crash my car yesterday because I wasn't able to look something up on google maps while in town and wasted a bunch of time looking for it instead. This made it so that by the time I was able to start heading down to Reno to go Christmas shopping, it was dark, cold, and the roads had become covered with a light dusting of snow and black ice.

To make a long story short, the outage caused me to spend an hour and a half 30 feet down a hill on the side of the road surrounded by sage brush and snow before the CHP could get a truck with a winch to pull me out.

Why not just set up the processor to automatically lower the volume of the commercials by default? If your feed is at 50db and the commercials are at 40db, there won't be a problem.

If the advertisers don't like it, they can stop purposely setting up their commercials to be annoying.

You're the one that doesn't understand. Deregulation wasn't the problem. Regulation is what caused it. The Clinton administration forced the banks to give loans to people that the banks would have never given loans to before because those people could not pay them. The government is forcing people to be irresponsible with money in the name of being progressive and "not being racist."

If the government had minded its own business, this mess never would have happened in the first place. The market, if left to its own devices, never would have let this happen at all. Stop trying to paint the banks as the villains and the government as the hero here. It's not just wrong, it's flat out dishonest.

That's the thing. They shouldn't have to. If they don't want to tap a market, they should sure as hell not be forced to. If the market decides that it doesn't care about the blind, oh well. When someone decides to pander to that specific special interest group they'll have a monopoly on that market and stand to potentially make a lot of money. The companies that don't pander to that group won't be getting any of that market and won't be making a dime off of it.

There is already a system in place to enable the "less fortunate" to get service. Forcing people is not the way to do it. Such tactics only serve to make people disgruntled and end up harming the group in the end.
