    Ummm,that's some good arrogance I smell. Does true morality require that nothing change in the ecosystem? Just let me know what your benchmark year for ecology of the planet is, so we can have ISO certify it and then move on to make sure it never changes.

    Back in the 90's I worked for a company that built coin changers and acceptors. Even back then they were using a more advanced method than the one you describe. The acceptor was actually the part that determined what type of coin was inserted and would reject it if it was a slug. The acceptor worked on the same principle as a metal detector. Since coins are made up of a unique mix of metals the acceptors could be "tuned" to accept a certain coin by dropping versions of that kind from different years and differing conditions.
    Interesting, that might explain why a 60's vintage silver dime was rejected by a vending machine. Didn't realize it was a silver dime until I plucked it out and saw the vintage and the lack of shine.

    These are NOT rum'n'cokes they are talking about. "Sparks" (a Miller/Coors product), one of the products that is being reformulated, had as much alcohol as a can of beer but as much caffeine as a "stay awake" pill.
    Given the diuretic effects of caffeine, you really aren't drinking the beer or even renting it, sounds like your just pre-filtering the stuff before it goes down the toilet.

    And if said pharmacy doesn't carry the morning after pill b/c of ethical/moral or whatever beliefs then what? And seeking the morning after pill sounds like closing the barn door after the horse has left, ethically speaking.

    Traffic expands to consume whatever amount of road you're willing to build. Your high speed rail will be consumed and the airlines will still suffer delays.
    Really, you mean now that there's a high speed rail between LA-Phoenix, I living on the east coast will jump on a plane and then ride this rail service b/c it's there? Now, that expanded traffic is what creates a multiplier effect for infrastructure spending/investment.

    You can use logic all you want to show the advantages Android phones have, but until the shine wears off for the iPhone fans and people realize just how tied their hands are, it will remain the dominant phone.
    You're half right, the other part of the shine equation is eventually, the air of exclusivity will wear off and apple will become the next burberry and chavs will have them and then no one will want one.

    Who do you think elected said very noisy and ill-informed subset of the politicians? It wasn't a bunch of thoughtful, sober, rational individual citizens who acted in concert to promote harmonious civil discourse, now was it?

    Oh, it's even better than that, once the appropriate NGO's get the right sanctions and treaties passed in the UN you won't even have to worry about such quaint things like constitutional rights, since our life time appointed SCOTUS justices will look at how other(possibly less democratic) instutions and countries act, and move the laws accordingly.

    (d) In what universe is changing the law so that you can run for election any number of times the same as making yourself president for life? Not everyone thinks term limits are a good idea. The US did not used to have them.

    Republic: Doesn't have a monarch. Simple as that. The US is a republic, so is Sudan and so is North Korea.
