    Well soon the phone system might be the internet. (Unless Ma Bell manges to screw vonage)and that is critical. The point here is that the cyber world is gradually becoming an important part of of lives and cyber terrorism could and will affect real lives, and not just some dumb web server.

    I wonder if this is to make the OS 'rootkit resistant' considering the recent Sony rootkit fiasco. I mean to just prevent Tiger from running on any X86, I would guess some hardware protection system would be way more secure than a pure software solution.

    If you like your thinkpad then go for the X41. I'm using the X41 since July and it has been really great. IBM (Lenovo) build quality just blows the competition away, I have used the Toshiba tablet (its quite good) but I would just go for Thinkpad with my eyes closed. This is particularly true if u are a thinkpad user since you just start expecting that quality from ur laptop (like the really 'good feel' keyboard) which noone (except perhaps Apple) can match. So my advice is , wait for some more time but spend 200-300$ more and go for X41

    To be considered self-contained, it must not modify the operating system to execute any software at any time other than when the user runs the software in question.

    Which would require you to define OS. For example, since MS has claimed that IE is (an indeipensible ?) part of the OS a skin (theme) changer could be considered malware . My point is , the bill is necessary but it cant be just one small paragraph .. expect something like lots of pages of jargon, which noone who votes on it will grasp.

    R U sure about this ? Because I use run IE with Wine on my machine at work (And I think if u install Office 2003 with crossover Ofiice IE6 is necessary ). So I dont think its illegal to use it (or all Crossover customers would be doing something illegal)

    IE is not free, even as in beer.

    It is. Go to http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/downloads to download a copy (though I have no clue why anyone would prefer IE6 to Firefox)

    :) Actually I just wanted to mention that the new Hotmail beta(aka Kahuna) is damn cool. I got the chance to Beta test it. IE7 is decent, better CSS support, PBG transperancy, and ofcourse tabbed browsing. I dont use MSN messenger (why is GAIM bad ?), shoutcast or need to have an always on top setting for windows.

    Look what you just did, made me defend MS , I'm gonna get u.

Serioulsy whats so wrong with the parent post to mark it as a troll? It does not seem absurd to wish for unbounded length ints (BigInteger?).

    It means 11282 :) .
    There seems to be a typo in the article post (A typo on slashdaot .. thats news ..I mean just one typo thats cool). Its probably due to some filter. It should say 11^281 +1

    Wow !!! I tested their Sample search and all the results were aeroplane photos !!! Ok, ok the site only has airplanes but still ..:)

    On a more serious note the alogorithms seem to look for similatity in the colors and lighting rather than the subjects (for example it shows the interior of a cabin in photos similar to a whole plane in the sky. To really see its effectiveness we need to test in in the real world (google images) . The 'artisticly revealing' photo you always liked ... now you should be able get similar pr0n (^H^H^H^H I mean art) with these algorithms

    In terms of on-and-off screen body count, this movie will dwarf Sin City and Kill Bill (both volumes combined, plus Pulp Fiction just for fun) by orders (plural) of magnitude.

    Dude, H2G2 totally blows away all these in pure body count (off screen) , all the population on earth vs a measly 8 (or 9) in Pulp Fiction !!

    I dont get Verizon Broadband in Austin (and I always thought that Austin was one of the most wired ... ahem ..wireless cites ). Anyway the live vehicle tracking is a good idea. If they enforced some vehicle tracking mechanism in every new car sold in overcrowded cities, wont that help the people/authorities detect and circumvent jams (and it will probably be a fraction of the cost of the wasted gas)

    Besides, I never trust Adblockers: they too often (read: more than zero times) throw out the baby with the bathwater. With an adblocker, you would never see any photos from my local newspaper.
    If you were not trolling, then I would really (and I mean it)urge you to to use AdBlock with Firefox. Just go to the forums and check out the syntax for adding advanced filters. I dont know which newspaper you read but I could always tweak my Adblock settings do that I continue getting the pictures I want without any of the ads. The main reason why this is so easy is bcos most sites ue a different ad server (and not their normal image server) which I guess is better to collect ad data (?)

    Of course you would say that the 'Grandma' user is not going to do any tweaking , but then thats how the advertisers make money :) Though one really useful thing AdBlock should have is an instant off switch (some nightly builds have that) so that you can easily know if you are missing any content

    I almost believed it , but decided to have a look at the constitution myself. Well, I guess Texas not as bad as you thought.

    But before you get too pleased , read the last part of the line !!! So no atheists for public office in TX (I must admit that I wasnt expecting this)

    He suggested 5 cents because it's cheap. Increase that and you obviously get a lot less. For example, you could get 20 tracks for a dollar at 5 cents each, but at 10 cents per track you only get 10 of them.

    Ur argument does not really hold. Why 5 cents then, why not change 1 cent and increase the sales exponentially and get a ridiculously large amount of money.

    I can see embedded images from mails sent by ANYONE in my gmail. What gmail blocks is remote images.
