Yep, I'm using an 800MHz Compaq running winXP as my main computer, a whopping 2MB video memory. Hell, my PDA is 400MHz now. For games, I have an Xbox. (modded of course, no PS2 fanboys need to comment..) And I'm building a mini ITX system for a linux server. Sometime this year I want to get a new 12" Powerbook. They look slick as hell. Though having an XP desktop, a Linux server, and an Apple notebook.... I might explode or something...

Very intriguing... It seems a truly foolproof set of rules would very well be impossible. Even if the list was volumes, a robot (being a computer) could try them all quickly and find a loophole. Going to be thinking about this one for a while, good use for my spare cerebrum cycles.

Is there a reason you did not get a debit card? They link to your checking account, and work exactly the same. Mine has a Visa logo, so it works pretty much everywhere. Had it since I was 17. I loves the debit plastic. (Should be noted, I earned ALL my money at my job, never bounced a charge, and actually have a savings Acct. with money in it. No free rides from the parents here.)

But would creating more robots fall under the 4th law? OR would this be seen as a directive to make only an exact copy? Also, would the robots programming be considered as something to not modify? Otherwise the first bot could build a second just like it with no laws (just witholding them) and unleash it. It's very interesting to think about. (The laws thing, not our downfall by robotic overlords)

Personally, I use Quicken for my finances. (I know everyone does not, so spare me that line) And twice a week I have it sync with my bank, it downloads all the transactions and I can pair them with entries with ease. If I got a $24 charge I don't have in the checkbook, big flag would go up. As I enter my reciepts as soon as I get home every day, it would not take long to sort out if I just forgot one or if there was a problem. I feel rather safe about using my card, partly because I'm not liable and also because I can catch any strange charges rather quickly, making odds of disputing it better. (This does not mean I'm not paranoid about theft of my card, I take the usual precautions)

Would I use this wireless system? I probably would if it was offered. Right now it seems rather safe, you have to have it so close to the reader I doubt it would be stolen by walking down the street. Of course before I got it, I'd check up on them again, as if they go into production (years down the road, just think of how many readers need installed before it's practical to have one) more details would be put out, and more improvements made.

Except it is much easier to program a whole week worth of shows on the Tivo and forget about it, with a VCR you have to set up each start time. With a Sat system, you also have to have it change the channel time, and keep in mind most have only 4 or 6 time slots to be able to record, oh, and the fact that a VCR tape is only 6 hours at best. Also, to get to a certain program you have to rewind to a certain spot. Tivo wins. :)
