    I was suspicious of the U.S. allegations that the North Korean government was behind it when the North Koreans denied it was them.

    Yes, because the North Koreans are forthright and honest chaps, their statements are always unbiased and true...

    If you're going to hack somebody to make a political statement, it makes no sense to later deny that you were involved.

    The North Koreans do not operate on the same logical reasoning that most of the rest of the world does. Trying to apply what most of the world defines as "making sense" to what North Korea says and does in not as straight forward as you might think. They have often denied involvement in thing later proven.

    Sony is not who bowed down to pressure. The 5 largest movie theater chains refused to show the movie out of fear, not Sony.

    You are trying to tell me that Sony has no sway over theatre chains that rely on Sony to provide them with product to sell to the public at excessive prices? Really?

    Sony has a ***LOT*** of power, but chose not to use it because they have no spine.

    No, entrenching the right for corporations to act like assholes to maximize their profits means you live in an oligarchy.

    I guess I disagree that they are "acting like assholes" by regulating resources on their property to benefit their business.

    Restaurants don't allow you to bring other restaurants food in, I can't pull into the Ford dealership and just use their stall to work on my car...

    Perhaps this is "Corporate Assholes" trying to monetize their investment in their hotel property and make money as most businesses are created to do?

    But on a practical engineering standpoint, the technology seems problematic.

    This also makes this community look really uninformed. The first sight of anything about Comcast and people just start saying random bullshit.

    It's my understanding - I heard this from a guy that had a roommate who worked in a Comcast call center - that once a week, they have a "motivational" meeting where fresh babies are sacrificed and eaten.

    The thing only costs $200, Their cartridges cost $25 for a 120 use cartridge. At 2 uses/day that's 6 cartridges/year -- so you're paying 75% of the cost of the unit in a year just for the cartridges.

    I think if Rolls Royce dealers charged $150K each year for required maintenance on a $200K Rolls Royce, there'd be few people getting service at the dealer.

    I assume you gave up your ink-jet printer for a color lasar?

    .NET is a runtime environment, not a language. You won't get worthwhile answers because your questions are broken.

    The .NET "ecosystem" includes many components, including C#, which is a language.

    If you're already using something that works (and who isn't), what's the motivation to change?

    As much as the Slashdot Hardcore might hate it, .NET has a huge presence in "enterprise" software and IT. It behooves one to know something about it, it's a popular too that might get you a job... On the other hand, there are many still on the Java boat.

    Really, it's Regal Cinemas that's spineless. Sony didn't have much choice once so many theaters pulled out

    Sony has a lot of pull with theatre chains, who need Sony to push the "blockbusters" their direction first. If Sony had wanted this film in theatres, it would have been in theatres.

    The North Koreans have publically made demands with respect to this movie both before and after the hack. It's been in the news for awhile.

    The more this unravels the more I smell false flag.

    Who had something to gain? Has there been an extortion of cash, a request for payments? No, simply a specific demand to shit-can a specific movie that a specific party has already made bellicose threats over.

    Nobody else but the North Koreans have anything at all to gain, except maybe Seth Rogen, now that everyone wants to see his shitty movie that otherwise would have faded away within two weeks of the premier.

    But again, who has already made threats over this film?

    The more this unravels the more the conspiracy nuts will come out of the woodwork.

    I predict that as the "security researchers" work their way through the evidence, the North Koreans will indeed be revealed to be the culprits who have effectively unleashed this unfunny worthless film on the public.

    Do not attribute to a conspiracy that which can be adequately explained by incompetence -- especially if you won't show your evidence of said conspiracy. The company that thought a Root Kit was a good idea does seems to be lacking something in the competence department.

    Which only means that it is possible that they made it easy for the North Koreans.

    Of course the North Koreans deny it, why wouldn't they?

    In the weeks to come, the evidence will come to light, but the smoking gun is already coming from that direction.

    Cuban exiles are a big voting block in a big battleground state, , but obviously somebody decided to risk kicking this hornets' nest ...

    The Cuban Exiles have never voted Democrat / Liberal, and have always been rabid right-wingers politically. I lived in Miami for a few years and learned that although certainly not a majority on the area, they are very vocal locally.

    These people would never vote Democrat anyway, so they are not Obama's audience.

    Wow. Just wow.

    Well, *in my opinion* unless you go back for another degree (and even then), you will need at least something to show some level of skill.

    Perhaps work on an Open Source project?
