My case wasn't a lack of renewal, mine was that my registrar let my domain slip off the books (had the previous year too), and went MIA when I tried to contact them about it for renewal (obviously was an automated program to accept CC details then re-register it). So there was no way I could transfer it to a new host before it was deleted. I planned on re-registering it the day it was deleted, but then saw one of these bottom feeders pick it up the day it was removed (when I tried to re-register it).
It's not just the speed though. For example, a Core 2 Duo System clocked at 2.4Ghz will typically run anything faster than a P4 at 3.0Ghz even if it's only running on a single core.
We're no longer in the days of more Mhz = Faster computing.
Now if you could get a Core 2 Single then you might have a point, but multi-threading has been around for a while now, this is just a push to make it happen, so it won't be too long until many things will take advantage of it. eg. World Of Warcraft got multi-threading in the last patch, and I'm sure many existing apps will too.
I'd say there's a lot of truth in that. Something that is nice and accessible (think VCR's) seem to be ok when it comes to copyright infringement, but when it's something that isn't properly understood (think BitTorrent) by the old fuddy duddy senators, it must be bad.
It seems to me that when the majority of the population is breaking a particular law (such as copyright infringement), there is something wrong with that law.
I bought a Mitsubishi Diamond View DV172 a while back, and it was fine when I tested it in store, I got it home, and it worked fine, within a week, it had 4 coloured pixels stuck on (within what they deemed acceptable), so I called Mitsubishi explained what had happened, and within 2 days, they sent me a replacement. Very good service there, I was wondering if other companies do the same... ie dead pixels within a week of purchase, if they replace them?
I'll agree with that. I've been using Gentoo for about a month, and it's worked perfectly. I like it so much in fact, that I'm currently installing it on my laptop (literally downloading the kernel source now).
Would it be possible to have a rocket as well as a solar sail? The rocket for the inital acceleration, then use the solar sail to keep accelerating (much more energy efficient).
Seemed to be around about that time too. Maybe it was related. Some of the guys here at work were fine though. Maybe logins are always directed to a single server (not just the storage of the emails).
Interesting link, but it doesn't show how influcencial on electronic music each one was. That would be a very interesting stat. Eg. In most peoples minds, the Dr Who theme was the start of mainstream electronic music, but what inspired that?
This will fail. Why? Take for example my brother who has one of the older Sony Memory Gate players. He said to me that if he had have known that he'd have to convert his MP3's that he wouldn't have bought it. For that reason alone it will fail, then couple with the fact that Sony software sucks big time (as most bundled software does), I seriously doubt that this walkman will sell well at all. On top of all that, ATRAC has DRM which will instantly turn most geeks off.

both kill and short-circuit the 'sex life' Do they extract the drug from slashdot readers? :-P

Netcraft confirms it!
Wow, interesting read... I never thought of it that way.
I think you need to switch ISP's... it's nowhere near that expensive for most ISP's (unless you are using Telstra).

I can't imagine it would be that high, it has to run on batteries (and get decent life out of them).
The Pentium M wasn't really a new design, as far as I know, it's just an updated Pentium 3
Then at least we may be able to get R rated games, rather than them being banned instantly.
I've often even wanted that for testing purposes. It's amazing how many people still use NS 4.7
Didn't it die when it was 5?
Girlfriend?!?! You are hereby forbidden to play any games for the rest of your life!
Nope, doesn't work... many are faulty and should be returned.
That would probably be their easiest way to kill Open Source!

What about the DOA series. Basic elements of realism, with big boobies (cool specials/supers).

I've actually seen an Archvile kill a monster himself, then resurrect it... quite funny.

And you thought the BMW was going to be the biggest iPod accessory ever! Now all the students have a whole university to plug into them!
