  1. I don't get it on Cringely on P2P vs Streaming Data Centers · · Score: 1

Point 1: What is the point of streaming in the first place? The idea is STUPID and NOT what I as a (ab)user want. I want to be able to have the file, copy it to the device I want to view it on, pause when I feel like taking a break, start playing when I want to and so on. I want a +-700 MB avi divx file.

Point 2: BitTorrent allows you to add seeds to the torrent as you feel like. When I read "data centers will never be ready to serve 30 million concurrent streams of data." I ask the simple question: Really? Data centers can just fine serve 300 million concurrent streams of (bittorrent) data. However, I don't have 300 million users to stream to. Get me that and I'll prove my point. No problem.

Point 3: "Streaming" is about control: Controlling that you as a user have no freedom. Freedom is good for you. Being able to download the avi files is good for you. If Akamai can't serve 150,000 concurrent users then they really should ask themselves why they insist on "streaming" in the first place instead of distributing files like they should be doing and thus allowing their users more freedom.

You missed part of history. Please (re-)read the Patriot Act. Jaywalking is now a "terrorist" offense in the USA.

As for Norway, Norwegian "Police intelligence" chief Jørn Holme publicly stated that "If it is not against the law, and can not be prosecuted, then we will take the measures we feel is appropriate". That basically Means that if you do absolutely nothing wrong and you criticize the Norwegian regime then they will torture you and in any way possible try to destroy you. This is relevant because the "Police intelligence" department (PST) started a surveillance, torture and sabotage operation on me after I made documentaries about 911 available on the Internet and posted a lot of information with links to it in Norwegian forums. Here they do not even use the terrorist excuse, they simply say "We do not like you, so we torture you".

Getting my servers shut down like Razorback2 is one thing the Norwegian Gestapo Police can't do that sine they are hosted abroad. So instead they torture with microwave weapons, voice-to-scull mind-control weapons, steal my mail, harass my neighbors and on and on BECAUSE OF RUNNING A DAMN WEBSITE with information that goes against everything the criminal regime would have people believe.

Take my word for it, getting your server(s) shut down is nothing compared to what some governments are willing to do to stop video documentaries to be accessible to the public.

Tor can be used with _any_ P2P programs protocol and is thus highly recommended. I urge anyone who makes p2p software to immediately implement support for it. I agree decentralized file-sharing is good. Back in the 90s a lot of folks were doing centralized, they met in schools or other places and copied files. Those were called "copy-parties". The police, in their glory, rided some of those on behalf of the glorious Record and Movie Industry (RIAA/MPAA). Hmm. Now that sounds familiar. Wonder who oh who ordered the raid on the Razorback2 Servers? On a last point, please beware of this: There are information on the Internet that are very important but ignored and/or blacked out by governments and the corporate media. These video files are generally free and freely available on p2p services (like on my bittorrent TV site) but governments are willing to go to great length, even covert torture here in Norway, to shut such sites down. This is something one should consider seriously when reading about sites being shut down.

Does it matter to Americans that our country went to war on a false premise?"

Guess not, because in the very same briefing, minutes later, Charles Duelfer said:

"Secondly, and we describe this in some detail in the report, there was a greater concern than we could appreciate sitting here in Washington of the threat posed by Iran. And we just, you know, that our gut feeling for that was not the same as the gut feeling one would have sitting in Baghdad, where you had invaded and killed a lot of those people, and then every once in a while they were throwing rockets at you, so there was an ongoing conflict there. It seems obvious to me that you've missed a lot. Check independent sources and start with World War I, then move forward to today and you will find and realize that there is a lot more to both history and reality than what you are told on your lying corporate media.

"Another remarkable feature of the new "crisis" is that Iran is successfully portrayed as a villain and threat based on a distant prospect of its acquiring nuclear weapons, even as the United States and Israel brandish those weapons and threaten Iran with attack. If Iran did acquire nuclear weapons it could never use them against Israel or the United States without committing national suicide, whereas the United States has used them in the past and could do so now without threat of nuclear retaliation. However, if Iran built a small stock of such weapons it could pose a low probability threat of a nuclear response to a direct attack. So Iran's real "threat" is the threat of being able to defend itself" (see Herman, "Iran's Dire Threat," Z Magazine, October 2004)."

Building light "mind control" into software is also not new; in a patent filed 1986-06-30 and granted 1988-01-05, the secret world dictatorship are telling us to our faces that both computer and TV screen can and is being used for mind control (Television stations worlde are frequently being caught red-handed doing this, but such incidents are ignored by the predominant media - guess why..): "Instead the person to be treated views a program of video pictures appearing on a screen. Mind Control IS a very real threat to all citizens of the "free world" and this and similar forms for torture like direct energy weapons are being covertly applied to almost everyone who dares speak truth to power.
