I don't understand how he can say that current operating systems can't handle "video internet", my computer runs high def video super fine and I can't even stream anything higher than 150KB/sec via the internet, yet. This article is much too vague to have enough merit to be a headline, in my opinion. Sure, better operating systems would be nice, but there's always going to be room for improvement. Besides, by the time this "video internet" is fully implemented, Windows Vista will most likely be available... Possibly even Windows Lemonbuttersauce or whatever they're going to call it ten operating systems from now.
Makes it sound like OpenDocument Format is the only viable alternative to buying Microsoft Office if you need to use spreadsheeting, but I thought that's what BitTorrent was for...
Well, with my karma the way it is at present, I'd say my most dangerous idea of late has been posting on slashdot. That and setting fire to peoples garden gnomes... Blueprinting a seven story building to be made out of lollipops... Then there was that time when my dad filled a garbage can with petrol, attached a fuse, buried it and lit a match, but I'm not going to go there.
How am I supposed to set a super wide image as my desktop?
Honestly, though, what mainstream customer will find a use for ultra-wide photos? People like my mum certainly wouldn't - she doesn't even like the idea of widescreen TVs.
Then I'm afraid you've just shown that "All my life" is less than 20 years.
Probably less than 15.
Yep, I'm 15. I recognise those song names but I didn't know the name of the band until now. I still say Peeptophe probably thinks all Australians ride to work in the pouches of their pet kangaroos...
I've lived in Australia all my life and have NEVER heard the word "transferbangle". Also, I have never even heard of the band "The Bangles" - Nice try Peeptophe, why don't you go watch Steve Irwin or something.
After watching the film I have to say that the acting was average at best and mostly very poor (but what do you expect from a low-budget fan film?). The special effects were quite good though, with some of the effects being about Phantom Menace quality, though one or two seens looked to me like a cross between the graphics from Rogue Squadron on N64 and Rogue Squadron 2 on GameCube. Overall though I'd say that for a fan film it's good and if you're into special effects and Star Wars then it's worth the download, as long as you're on broadband that is (obviously...).
It's a good idea but would I don't think it's gonna have all that much affect on anything but MP3 players and eBooks... I guess that's what it's made for but it's not gonna do much good for computer monitors any time soon, especially to those who like to game... In that case it would use more power than an LCD and it would probably be slower too.
Also how much power would it really save in MP3 players? The iPod Shuffle has no screen at all and it doesn't last much longer than some other MP3 players with regular screens. I guess it'll look nice though.
I don't really know anything about the Mac OS but from what I gather the actual OS is better at rendering graphics than Windows so it doesn't need as good a video card or something? Is that right?:S
Yeh I guess you have a point there... That'll be a major problem for people who bought pre-made PC's with no AGP port... What's so good about Longhorn to warrant the purchase of a good video card anyways?
in case you haven't noticed the Radeon 9200 IS an entry-level card... They're saying that you'll need a BETTER than entry level card to run Longhorn... And you'll need a PC too:P
Why not use the ground (solar panels) to collect solar energy instead? Wouldn't that be a lot more feasible? Also it'd probably be a whole lot easier and probably more efficient too...
have a video game tournament with Counter Strike: Source, Battlefield: 1942, FarCry and whatever other good multiplayer games anyone can think of... just as many computers and LAN games as possible... And prizes for the winners and runners-up... I'm a high school student... I should know what we like:p

If I was shaped like a donut, I would never be hungry! ^_^

I know painting a car red makes it go faster, but I can't remember if knowing how something works makes it better or worse...

I feel like I'm being watched... >_>

Ironically, there's no engine sounds in Firefly/Serenity when the ship's in space, which is pretty much all the time, except when it's grounded.
I got the impression that it is supposed to be a game... Correct me if I'm wrong.

So Jack can afford to buy shares in Take Two, but he can't afford to donate $10,000 to the charity of Eibeler's choosing?
"or what reason is there to lock out your userbase?"
SuperficialRhyme makes it sound like gap.com has a userbase of 1

G for Good - yay!
That's why they call them notebooks now.

Microsoft, don't you just love 'em? *rolls eyes*
