  1. Not quitei on New Speed Record For Hybrid Cars · · Score: 2, Informative

Actually, all the articles I've ever read say that the battery *pack* (~100-200 D sized rechargeables) and motor add between 600 and 1000 pounds, depending on which car you're talking about. Furthermore, they said that the electric motor is there specifically for assisting the tiny engine during hard accels. They casually mention that it's also for maintaining speed while cruising so the engine can operate at most efficient RPM, and for regen braking, but they don't make as big a deal about that stuff.

actually, it's the only hybrid ever entered. In fact, they had to convince the people to open a new category in order to allow the vehicle, because it has more than one 'engine'. IIRC, it may also have been because the other 'engine' (elec. motor) doesn't 'use conventional fuel'.

Every time new vulnerabilities are announced, they say, "don't do this, don't download that, don't use this or that program/feature/bug". Enough of this has gone on that every program that was of any use in Windows is now unusable for fear of remaining undiscovered holes/patches that didn't take.

Let's now compile a list of these to give to people in order to convince them to switch to Linux. Meanwhile, so much functionality has been rendered unusable that when the next hole is found, they'll have to tell people not to use Windows at all ;-)

The hydrogen would be in effect a way to store and transport the solar energy to where it is needed.

One of the most common errors people make when talking about hydrogen is calling it an energy source. In all actuality, though, it is an energy vehicle, or an energy storage medium, just like a battery or a capacitor. The original source of the energy found in pure hydrogen is whatever energy was expended to isolate it in the first place. (If you really want to get hair-splittingly technical, even that isn't an energy source, because it got its energy from somewhere, and on and on and energy is neither created nor destroyed but only changes form all the way back to the Big Bang except the Big Bang got ITS energy from somewhere...)
