Well, I don't know about the other guys.. but with AT&T DSL, you get free backup dialup service, as well as the hotspot thing.. Most people don't even know what they have included with their Internet service.. They sign up, get it hooked up, usually ignore all their providers pages, and anything else that comes with their service.. including having the service for years, taking the PC to Geek Squad numerous times to get cleaned, or paying for an anti virus subscription, and then finding out that they have had access to free anti virus software they didn't know about.
I don't think it's so much getting arrested for a crime and then searching for related evidence, that people find unreasonable search.. If it's relevant to what you arrested for, then it makes sense.. But,,, If for example. you ran a red light, and you had an unpaid parking ticket that became a warrant and were arrested.. would searching your phone be acceptable ?
Uhh yeah.. keep hearing that.. Yes the iPhone will be better on Verizon, but that's because the hardware will be fixed.. Some die hard Apple users will switch from AT&T to Verizon.. but then market share is not increasing is it ?.. just moving.. I don't foresee a mass migration of Android users to iPhone.. there may be some, but I think a lot of Android users will be looking more towards other Android devices to upgrade to (sorry the opportunity was missed by a long shot).. There is just not the iPhone envy out there that people seem to think there is... but speaking of envy, there seems to be a bit building for this device... http://www.engadget.com/2011/01/06/motorola-atrix-4g-hd-multimedia-dock-and-laptop-dock-hands-on/#disqus_thread... but keep thinking that the iPhone on Verizon is the next big deal if you want to..
I don't know bout that... The Galaxy S line has done pretty well.. Will they in themselves beat the iPhone ?.. no, but it does show that it is possible.. Motorola is also working on a launch similar to what Samsung did with the Galaxy S.. across multiple carriers and worldwide.. will it be "the next big thing" ?.. who knows ?.. but don't assume that Apple has a lock on "the next big thing".
Airline prices are all over the map.. Here are some examples from memory...
LA-Frankfurt.. Round trip.. 1987 $1600
LA-Frankfurt.. Round trip.. 1997 $1400
LA-Frankfurt.. Round trip.. 2000 $600 & $500 (went twice that year)
LA-Frankfurt.. Round trip.. 2005 $700
LA-Frankfurt.. Round trip.. 2010 $1200
These were all taken in Spring.. summer prices of course are higher..
Priceline and Expedia have been helpful, and my new favorite Kayak.. Still the airlines are struggling with these "low prices".. if we could ever turn the clock back on fuel prices.. things would turn around.
It depends if the latency of walking to the newly cleared checkout is less than being on deck with the person checking out with 200 items, who has to have price checks, and a managers approval for their personal check.
Location Sharing:
Latitude allows users to share their physical location with other users on their contact list. Likewise, they can see the location of their contacts. Privacy:
Your location is not broadcast to the general public. In order to share your location, both you and your contact must agree to the service and explicitly turn Latitude on. You can disable Latitude at any point and either selectively or globally turn location sharing off.
I keep my GPS turned off.. not because of this issue, but because of battery drain... and if I recall correctly, you have to opt-in to share your location, and then only to people you know.. which I would never do without a specific reason (say perhaps visiting some strange city with family/friends where we all go our own way exploring).. Further I also believe that even when you have this enabled, you can disable it any time you want... I am too lazy to look it up, and as I don't use it anyway, haven't needed to look it up.
No.. it says that if you had a phone that was called 4G it "was" lying until they relaxed the rules to where now they are not lying.. and then in the NetworkWorld article, they go on to comment that only the WiMax and current LTE should be 4G because they achieved the speed by using "Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiplexing Access" where as HSPA+ achieved their speed (though magic ?) some other way.. and then grudgingly acknowledge that fast to the consumer is fast to the consumer.. so they guess it's ok, sorta... but HSPA+ will never be 4G to them, even though it is as much as the other 2 technologies in what matters to qualify for the new relaxed rules.
http://www.debian.org/releases/stable/i386/apas03.html.en... If you'll also notice on the distrowatch link.. the default desktop is Gnome you don't really have to do much as far as selecting packages, it will install it. Partitioning can be intimidating for "noobs", but that is the same thing you face with Windows.. If you notice in the Install instructions above there is auto partitioning as well.
The Samsung screen was the the big thing, but there is not much of a real improvement here over the Vibrant other than the front facing camera (and probably fixed GPS), which is strange that they would include without the 4G. The stock Android updates is a selling point I suppose.. But with TMobile, I think I'd have a tough choice choosing this over the myTouch 4G or the G2.. Verizon doesn't have anything yet that appeals to me to switch to.. I'll wait for a few months to see what happens with Tegra 2 phones..
Not sure what your talking about.. go here.. http://distrowatch.com/table.php?distribution=debian newest to the left.. oldest to the right.. I haven't found Debian any more difficult to install than Ubuntu.. but that's me. For a day to day system, testing has usually been very good.. unstable ?.. well the name says it all.. I know lots of people like to live on that edge, but I prefer not to... All that said, I do like Debian, but I haven't used it as my main OS for awhile.. not because of the difficulties you had, but mostly because of the whole Firefox thing.. Debian had Iceweasel, and it was giving me too much greif.. and that's why I switched.. It's probably all sorted out now.. I'll probably get a wild hair again someday to redo my OS, and I'll probably go back to Debian first.. but for now, am just plugging happily away in Xubuntu.
it needs to be abolished and those people who cannot afford to live without it (*not everybody who gets it today) must re-qualify for welfare, because that's what SS is,
Really ?.. come on.. First of all, Social Security is something that working people pay into.. um.. by working. The more you work, the more you make and pay into it.. The higher your benefit upon retiring.. It is not welfare, it's a forced savings plan that was implemented by the government.. It's also much like insurance (which is gambling pretty much).. many many many people die before collecting a dime. That they raised the retirement ages only gives the house better odds. That the government has mismanaged money and spent money like water while reducing their income (taxes) for so long does not take away from the fact that working people have been paying into this this forced savings plan since they could file a W4.. If you consider them welfare recipients because you think your smarter for having your 401k, then I am sure that you will only use your 401K money when you retire and not collect a dime from Social Security...Yeah right.. freaking lier.
The problem with it, is that there is nothing wrong with the policies.. There are incidents being reported that are against policies in place, and are being reported as if these incidents "Are the policy" with the "lofty goal" of forcing the government to "change policy".. It's stupid.. holier than thou crap. The military is made up of people, and people are not flawless robots.. To suggest such things as these as being sanctioned by the government, does harm.
I agree... and we recently had a similar race here in Nevada with Sharon Angle (although she is far from attractive).. The polls all favored her, but I'm thinking.. this lady is nuts, no way she gets elected.. Yes people wanted change, but she was so wacked out that people decided they didn't want change THAT BAD.. Myself, I vote for people.. Dem, Rep. whatever.. if your obviously insane I'll pick someone else.. I seem to vote for more Dems because the Republicans have such a hard time coming up with decent candidates.. If they could come up with well spoken, intelligent candidates who don't spend their whole campaign trying to lie about their opponent and spend some time telling me what they have done or what they would do.. well I'd vote for em.. crazy and hateful just doesn't work for me.
Although I haven't had to do it in forever.. Linux (at least to me) was just as easy to use back in the day when I did have to "make install".. even back then the majority of programs were also available in packages, it's just that you would occasionally run into the obscure thing that you wanted to try, that was only available via compiling from source.. but as things progressed, now I find everything through my package manager.. and I gave up using "experimental" in favor of just never having a problem.. I didn't and still don't have a problem with "complicated".. I enjoyed it at the time, and rebuilt my system too many times to imagine.. I see absolutely nothing wrong with keeping the ability to custom build your system and apps just as I see nothing wrong with dumbed down systems if that's what people want to install.. It's not an either or situation.. That's why there are still numerous distros at distrowatch.. and I wouldn't change it if I could.
What's great about true hard core science fiction, is that sometimes if you wait long enough, what was written about comes to be.. However, fantasy (magic) just is not ever going to have a chance of happening in the real world.. I can enjoy both works, and I like the occasional mix of genre.. Well of Souls series, John Varly's titan.. or Koontz blending science fiction with horror.. The best science fiction does not let the science get in the way of telling a story, but still has a good degree of plausibility.. I still have to let some things go (that are probably impossible) and just try and enjoy what is fiction after all.. So I guess for me "tech-no babble" is one of those things I can forgive, as long as it's not overdone to the point that we may as well be talking magic.
that would mean multiple attacks (and after the last ones, with the public aware), getting lots more of explosives... so it would become harder and harder.
Let's see.. in bass ackwards countries, that have been blown to crap, it's easy to get explosives.. but in the US where there are mega stores everywhere, it's difficult.. No, I am with the parent.. I think that the numbers of terrorists are just low, and that most are where they want to be, and creating havoc where they want to create it... From a "terror impact" point of view, the plane holds more fear because the people in a plane are trapped inside the plane already, and a mode of transportation that many people are fearful of even without the possibility of terrorism.. From a practical point of view, people are just as dead if they are killed in a mega store, an airplane, a political rally or any other place where you can have a large number of targets.. For the most part, common terrorism does not have to be a huge or symbolic event.. those are rare.. and in this media frenzy country, an incident with even 5 victims would be a big deal.
I would argue that this is what makes Linux better.. perhaps you like a world where you only have either chocolate or vanilla to choose from.. yes that would surely make them popular, but that doesn't mean that there are not people out there who might prefer butterscotch.. for all you know if all the people stuck on the two flavors decide to try butterscotch, it may turn out that they decide it's better.
Give me some examples of the "kickbacks".. The stimulus is all spelled out at the governments website.. The thing about it, is that it is money spread out over time, so the impact is not immediate.. however, many of the projects such as "building things", can not be done at a drop of the hat regardless of how nice it would be.. planning, and responsible management of funds has to be done.. otherwise it would be a government waste that everyone would love to bitch about... The sad thing is, that all the people whining about the bailouts (started by Bush), and the stimulus, don't even stop to consider what the country might be like if they had not been done.. I wonder about it.. and although I don't like that these things were done, I suspect that it would have been a crapstorm if they had not.. We'll never know really.. but that people don't even consider what things might have turned out to be like, is just sad, and shows that the majority of the public has small minds.
it's aggravating how often people think that allowing something to be legal means you think it's "okay"...
But that is exactly what legal means.. That the society you live in has determined that it's ok, so they made it legal to do. From a consumer point of view, if it's legal to purchase and have.. people who might not otherwise do so, would now do it with the justification that because it's legal, it's ok.. I could bring up the whole gateway drug argument, but I don't need to as it's obvious with all the comments by people who not only want marijuana legalized, but all drugs legalized.. and it may not bother many here, to see people screw themselves up on meth (by their own choice), but I don't want anybody I care about to legally do so..
Well, I don't know about the other guys.. but with AT&T DSL, you get free backup dialup service, as well as the hotspot thing.. Maybe another type of remote "kill switch" that deals with the thieves would be better.
