In Tiger, when enabling samba sharing, you have to choose which accounts to use and you are also warned about storing the passwords in a less secure way.
Back when I was badly hooked on several MUDs, I often had dreams about making exp and stuff, in ASCII.
And more recently, after long sessions in the dark worlds of Metroid Prime 2, I often found myself staying near roof lamps and other light sources, reluctant of moving anywhere.
I haven't had a Windows machine for a long time, so I don't have much knowledge of the inner workings of the latest Windows versions, so I've been wondering, does XP SP2 have some kind of buffer overflow protection besides NX?
AFAIR, only the latest x86 CPUs have support for NX, yet all the recent buffer overflow exploits in XP don't seem to affect SP2.
If Microsoft found and fixed all these exploits for SP2, wouldn't releasing a complete list of the fixes be less embarrassing than the weekly news about newly discovered vulnerabilities.
In Finnish law, distributing copyrighted works for free is a misdemeanor, punishable by a fine. When money is involved, it becomes a crime with a maximum penalty of two years in prison. A house search can be carried out when the maximum penalty of the suspected crime is atleast 6 months in prison.
Finreactor was accepting donates, thus money was involved and the raids were justified according to the law. Regular p2p users have no reason to worry about the police coming to raid their houses.
Keskusrikospoliisi (National Burearu of Investigation), which performed the raids, has stated that they acted because they got an investigation request from a plaintiff they've not identified, except that it's not the MPAA even though they have so claimed.
People don't seem to realise that an insurance company's sole purpose in existence is to NOT pay out on claims. Otherwise how do they increase their profits?!
Having to click on buttons several times to active is also a symptom of running under X11. I have GIMP2 on my powerbook and it's *horrible* to work with because of the way that focus works in a mac so each time you click from window to window in the gimp you have to click once to give the window focus, and then again to activate the menu/tool/etc.
Check the manual of quartz-wm, you can enable focus follows mouse and click-through, makes things sooo much better.
defaults write com.apple.x11 wm_ffm -bool true Enables focus-follows-mouse mode. Windows belonging to the X server may then be focused by moving the pointer over them, as well as the default mode of clicking in them.
defaults write com.apple.x11 wm_click_through -bool true Disables the default behavior of swallowing window-activating mouse events.
The post is a bit misleading, what was changed is the authentication when connecting to other persons' iTunes shares. Also, the libopendaap library is meant for browsing and streaming audio from iTunes shares.

I wonder how much it would cost to broadcast Eric Idle's FCC Song after this...

They've also sued three ADC members who were distributing developer builds of Mac OS X Tiger via BitTorrent.
Details here and here.
Nothing spectacular here, since besides the obvious copyright infringement, the developer builds are released under NDA.

So... Wouldn't this be simpler:
1. Don't start an insurance company.
2. Profit!
Done already.
"A live demonstration server is up and running the phpstack software."
:)
Haha, I couldn't help but laugh out loud after reading this line.
That's not a real Powerbook, they only have one mouse button!

"That's no moon!"
I guess the submitter doesn't love the site's hardware very much, their server seems to have melted already.
Blah, does anyone know where to get these? (Yes, it's safe to click despite being at stile :)
Wow, and I thought RFC 3251 was just a joke!
