People, please watch that video. The article is wild speculation. I did not hear or see anything that ought to be how Windows 8 looks. Its just MS saying what they recently did with Surface and Kinect.
Those bubbles some speak about (which where in visibly only for seconds, not even showing how interaction would actually work) are not represented as being how Windows 8 would or could work.
Not that i appreciate the idea of such a big company thinking really hard to remove that hassle of having to use a mouse and even then perform verbose, repetitive actions that could be represented with a single voice command. I'd love that.
I'm very much against Sony in this case. By chance, I already decided to not buy anything Sony. Lock-in fileformats, rootkits, Featureslack..
1) I do OWN my PS3. I do whatever i want with it. (Netherlands, won it via contest) 2) They removed features (pick one: OtherOS / PSN) which where pitched and used as selling points.
1 = I am not doing anything wrong by either examining the hardware and/or software. I'm not doing anything wrong by sharing my findings (be it not copyrighted or trademarked and thus deposited information). 2 = Sony is doing something illegal.
If i want to put Linux on my PS3, i may. If i enable Linux to communicate with some chip, i may. I'm glad these guys descide to distribute it.
As far as piracy argument goes: PS3 games are pretty crappy. I was a fanboy at launch, and glad i never bought one since i won one in 2010. There's really only 2 games on PS3 that are decent (and cannot enjoyed on other platforms): LittleBigPlanet and GranTurismo5 (stupid game still.. a waste of money) and i am not inclined in the slightest to download crappy games.
A modern day 8051 is also known as a tiny computer. It has onboard memory, cpu, clock, serial port, parallel port, PWM port, the works. It is able to drive a display directly.
There are probably better examples than a 8051 (please do suggest them), but for sake of putting things in scale (no pun intended) what is the die size of a recent 8051?
It goes without saying i did not RTFA. I just wondered.
Bleep "censor" is considered typical USA in most of the rest of the world. Japan is no exception. Please do not assume the rest of the world (or the whole English-vocal part) is this prudish.
I own a PS3 (won a contest) and can say tell you that all its software sucks. (Except for LittleBigPlanet and Lemmings demo. Also, Gran Turismo = halfbaked-bloat fail)
I use it mainly as a DNLA client, as which it does a fairly decent job. I'm not updating my firmware and am waiting for someone to enable Linux for my PS3 Slim.
I tried scrolling while holding CTRL. Here (latest Chrome) everything looks fine, but i have to wait while my Core2Duo cpu levels at 50% for 20 seconds or so..
You forget all those cows and chickens are quite expensive to maintain. With them reeling in money to support them, those animals would have to be laid off. Of course you'll adopt one, but keep most won't.
I was thinking i was the only one. For some reason (on some W7 systems) i can't cut-paste inside the SlashDot text box when using Chrome. Thank god for the Quote Parent button though.
Doesn't mistake number 2 contradict number 1? Or am I missing something?
Yup. FTA:

There should be one-- and preferably only one --obvious way to do it.
Although that way may not be obvious at first unless you're Dutch.
I saw what you did there. And it is the way to do that.
In other news: Users Criticise LastFM Over Featureslack (TM).
They have been dropping feature after feature. I payed to use those features thus i unsubscribed.
I won a contest and received a PS3. I am 100% positive its mine. (Netherlands)
Seconded.

Would not win Sony again.
The sharks aren't random enough.
http://xkcd.com/221/ (how part of PS3 security was implemented)
So exactly what did i say that was not correct?
You're actually enforcing what i said earlier. Except for your first mentioned citation:
Got source? I can not find that sentence, Google can't, and Bing can't.
In commercial statistics, periods may vary. For example, the first result -if negative- may be omitted to obtain more positive average result.
In Soviet Russia, statistics vary you.
If only /. would be so smartass as to find its own dupes. I saw the same story years ago, and i believe it even was on the frontpage.
In the USA suits do lawsuits to make law by precedent. Also, laws make suits.
Sony invented LaserDisc, Philips invented CD. And what we now know as a CD is the result of a joint task force between the two.
Interesting reads are wikipedia or "The CD Story" written by one of the engineers on that task force: http://www.exp-math.uni-essen.de/~immink/pdf/cdstory.htm

Theres a place for whitespace, and thats not /.
At least, not below each header and above each footer. IMHO, its just to much in this new design.
Please explain us why this is stupid.

Plus it can't really handle /.'s text box.

Theres a pattern in DDOS traffic.
http://www10.org/cdrom/papers/409/
The main site seems to work fine after
A) Worldwide mass interest
B) DDOS
C) slashdotting and other causes of sudden increase in traffic.
This should be featured on Discovery's "How do they do it." for sure. I'm peaked.
`GUI Interface is the reason i do not watch tv. Now wheres my kingdom?
Agree. The Telegraaf is a glossy magazine / tabloid in newspaper format. From my experience, they hire bigot story writers instead of journalists.
opinion, sorry.
