I have a 400 mhz G4 Powerbook and MPlayer plays everything smoothly (usually even in reduced CPU mode).
However, if I have the Preview function in Finder turned on, and it tries to preview a 700 mb DivX, I end up killing Finder because it takes all CPU resources until it's done previewing (seemingly forever).
I started studying piano at a conservatory about a year ago, and my teacher made me sit up straight. Initially this would result in very intense pain in my back after only 30 minutes of practicing in this (proper) position. By now, i only feel a tired pain at the same spot _after_ a long day (5 or more hours) of practice.
I think sitting up straight is already a great help for your back, and a pleasant side-effect (for me) is that im also walking up straight these days.
I have a 1Ghz Athlon, and it can burn cds at full speed (my cd-recorder is a 52x philips)..
i dont get why this whole cd-burning thing is used as a comparison...
You know, i recently switched over from studying CS to music (specifically, jazz piano) and every time i introduce myself to someone i remember how it used to be:
'I study CS'
'Oh. Great.'
As compared to:
'I study jazz piano.'
'Oh really?! That's really great! I got this cousin who... etc'
It's sad to see that it makes such a big difference but generally i enjoy the enthousiastic response:)
You could save power by only powering up both HDs when you need to write something, otherwise 1 HD will do fine.
This takes away one of the advantages of a mirroring RAID(faster reading) but if you make it a powersaving option it would be ok.
Good idea to have it while everybody else is on holidays!

Yea, it's amazing.. I've heard this in newsflashes on popular radiostations, but never in an interview. Cant listen to it.
