And your reason is wrong. The Electoral College was not created because you are a citizen of a state. The founding fathers did not want to elect the president based on popular vote. Period. The argument in favor of the Electoral College has to do with population. The argument goes candidates couldn't just campaign in a handful of states with large populations. The flaw with that argument has to do with the number of votes each state has. It's determined by the number of representatives, which is determined by population. If they changed it to one per state, then candidates would have to campaign in a hell of lot more states.
However, it should be national vote. Heck you might actually see a larger voter turn out. If you knew your vote counted more, you might vote.
What tech? From a manufacturing stand point none of it is made here. Then of course most of the workers are H1B Visa holders or the work is outsourced. So not much of a jobs employer. And as for paying taxes, what taxes. Cupertino has been trying to get Apple to pay more in taxes to help pay for infrastructure costs.
