Your both right..The user needs to do some research, get themselves a little informed. Though I can see how it can be overwhelming for someone who never used a computer before. I mean with all the sh*t out there how do you know who/what to trust?
Like wise, ms should be held responsible for security. Car companies do have a governing body for safety, hence the reason why there are recalls. And there are warranties too. They may not be the best but they do protect you at least for a year from the piece of sh*t Ford bought.
Bottom line, security is a HUGE issue, that novels can be written on. Yes the user should have a certain level on knowledge but there just not enough time to read up and going to get everything secure. Software should be more secure upon release...
Yea I agree, with you. My parents are new computer users and I'm going to have to install mozilla on their machine. If I don't they won't know anything outside of ie either. The average/new computer user just doens't know.
I still feel strongly ms should just stick to operating systems only and ditch there other gigs (i.e msn, xbox, windowsmobiletraining.com, etc). Its the os that got them here and spreading yourselfs thin trying to compete with the world in everything won't make your os come out on deadline or better....
Microsoft should remember that their man bread and butter is their os. Instead of just f*cking around with projects like this, they should use those resources to get deadlines on time and a more stable/secure os.
Just mine 2 cents....
It is sad. The one who really needs a license is the president of the u.s. Charge him $1000 for every troop he wants to send over for his useless wars on poliltcal revenge and erl....
At least some court has their senses about them. With that same type of logic guns would of been outlawed decades ago. I mean after all, its not the person who uses the gun that's the killer, its the person who sold and provided the gun...
Well that's only true if you have a gigillion dollars and congress in your back pocket...
Your right and that's why we should start a petition.
If enough people bitch and moan and wine and complain, it don't matter how much money you have they'll cave in..
From what I gather, right to privacy is above free speech. If someone is trespassing on your property claiming free speech, I don't think the law would abide to the criminal....
Its just microsoft has build a bad rep on themselves based on the past so it's going to take a while for people to forget/trust them.
I'm neutral here....Yes it's a step finally in the right directon but Im still skeptical and I will be until I hear how it went when people do patch xp...
Your right and your wrong. Yes its wrong to have that damned if you do and damned if you don't attitude....but then I just have to remind myself that MS is nothing but a monopoly only out for money.
And then again this is microsoft here:) Sure it's a step in the right direction but my ms intiution is telling me there gonna f*ck something up and big time....they always do....
I dunno, I think they may care more about the bruising their ego has been taken over all the virus contreversy rather than actually caring about security.
In other words, they have to start caring about security because enough people are pissed off now that there willing to make a switch to other os'....
ISPs block it cause their scared and jealous that gmail can offer a gig of space while these assh*les still can't get past the early 90's and offer anymore than a few megs of space.
This is one of the few times i'll side with the environmentalists....
I can't believe studios this idea will work. Last time I heard, correct me if I'm wrong, blockbuster wasn't doing too good rental wise. Sure this may eliminate late fees but customers will be outraged over a price increase. They complain about the prices now....
Not to mention there isn't possibly enough room or manpower to put out and store this throwawayables.
Just f*cking too greedy and dumb to even attempt this.....
For business purposes I can see that. For home use that is just way too much overkill.....As far as I'm concerned, the average computer user should never need a raid setup. As for me I don't have that much important data so simple dvd backups works fine....
What keeps me away from windows. The normal bs you get with winodws. viruses, or worst yet spyware. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars wasted in software you need to buy where you can get free on linux(office and what not). With linux there's nothing to activate(I can see in a way why window's does it but still annoying to me). Oh yea the biggest evil of them all..THE REGISTRY....
I can go on but those are my biggest gripes...
This is a little off topic but same idea applies, basically this sh*t is getting ridiculous. Our company recently ordered a very expensive network tape drive(2 of them). One they didnt even include a freakin instruction manual with the damn thing(they send 2 cdroms of instruction later) so we didn't know how to configure it and 2)one unit was defective and we had to hassle them to pay for shipping on their shoddy product. I have no control over these purchases(don't give me that power yet) but it just angers me because it almost seems universal now. Companies don't want to responsiblilty for there shitty service/product and unfortunately the consumer suffers! Oh wel..say la vi.....
I use hotmail just because I have it named after my favorite baseball player. I don't care about any messages on there. I only activate it from time to time to keep it alive. It's probably just me but I think its cool I have an e-mail address with only a name and no numbers meaning I was the first one before anyone else took it:)
I'm not to familiar with MTA programs so can anybody tell me which is the advantages/disadvantages of sendmail over postfix and vice versa? Here we use sendmail I guess because they guy who sets that part up is used to it and know that is proven to work. Like the old saying goes, if it ain't broke why fix it but I would like to know the differences between sendmail and postfix...
I was discussing this with my friend and you know what? This country gets off trying to make people live in fear. Don't step outside terrosit may strike, don't sniff this you may die 30 years from now blah blah blah. There may be a problem with this case but it sounds like too again another attempt to get you to live your life in fear so the government can pry off that fear and use it to subdue our rights even more.
If we go back to 19th century our life span would be shorter or at the very best case scenario the same....
On to other news... my ass sometimes leaks out some pretty toxic sh*t. The smell can be enough to kill a small army...should i be scared???

We go back to the old ol' days of bounty hunting and shoot those bastards where they stand. Wanted...Dead or Dead.
At least some court has their senses about them. With that same type of logic guns would of been outlawed decades ago. I mean after all, its not the person who uses the gun that's the killer, its the person who sold and provided the gun...

So does this mean more programmers will be put out of work?
Your right and that's why we should start a petition.

Sco is changing their business policy to actually put out some updated products :0 ...
Is it over the hills and far away? Couldn't resist......corny Led Zeppelin joke...

The only platform I haven't messed around yet is mac. Is it easy/hard to learn and administer if you already have windows/linux experience?

As long as there remain users who exist asking questions like "how do I save that word file" I'll never be out of a job. ;)
pardon my crappy grammer, i need to learn how to proof read better ;)
