    It's setup through scsi-emulation and even if that were the case, doesn't solve the other bugs like changing the system clock.... any other NON-SARCASTIC ideas?

    EXACTLY. For one, any panel that has M$ you can throw whatever comment they have about linux out the window. It's going to be nothing but biased and tained if possible since M$ seems to finally consider linux a possible threat.

    As far as I'm concerned, it's a moot point because all os's have some kind of vulnerability with them. I don't mean moot in brush off security, security should definately be a top priority. I mean moot by "oh well linux is unsecure , let me go to this os which may be just as unsecure..."

    I second that motion. In my company we haved mixed results with k3b. In most cases it gets the job done but not always error free. On Suse9.0 man times it changes the sytem time to an hour earlier and also slows down the machine considerably that it becomes counter productive. These are dual processor, 2 gig ram scsi disk drive machines by the way.

    I welcome any suggestions outside of patching or updating the program. In the future I'll look further into that but I'm so overwhelmed right now this is a low priority issue for me.

    correct me if i'm wrong but isn't this exploit only for searching results? in other words, if you go through google.com to look up your banks address to do banking instead of directly typing something like www.chase.com right into your browser, your a moron and then only God can stop you from keeping your info safe....

    Land may not be at the ridiculous prices it is now in same areas but it won't "crash" . Unlike stocks, land is actual physical assets and it's a scarce commodity. Only so much land to go around, just like gold, diamond, and silver..........

    Americans have the bizarre notion that taxes are money wasted.

    What happens officials waste the money instead of being efficient with it and using it for good. If your tax money is going to stuff some fat cat's wallet instead of making society better, yea you be pissed too.

    And i think its a crime your attacking our country instead of worrying about yours. I know U.S. is not perfect but you know what?! NO GOVERNEMENT IS. Worry about your own damn self and fix what you can do to fix your country then possibly worry about others.

    think it's a crime that the US spends more money on porn than foreign aid

    you know what i think is also a crime, the U.S. spends millions and millions and now billions to help out the tsunami effort and be responsible to give a warning system and all the rest of the world can do is bitch were not doing enough....

    Its now another tool for a state to get fat and make money on. That's what this is really about. If they cared about scammers scamming honest people they would just impose fines and not make people pay a $200 license fee with a year apprenticeship(which i'm sure will cost money somehow).

    Thanks Ohio for reminding us who the REAL scam artists are.......

    Ok I'm a newbie unix admin(only 2 years) and I don't program so I'm asking is this really a problem?

    Sure its annoying and there may be one too many linux distro's out there but you know what, at least it keeps linux/unix honest. I'm all for competition and maybe its the competition between the vendors that's advancing at a faster rate the development of linux than what would be otherwise...

    I think as techie people we should just let it play out and live with it because it keeps us employed :)

    I, for the most part, agree with what you said but why wold solaris even bother coming out with an x86 version? I don't know. Is the x86 version targetted for business' as well or possibly home use?

    Your right about very little if any hardware problems with sparc platform but sun's hardware is too expensive. I started disliking sun when the cheapest replacement network card i can find is $150 for an old ultrasparc workstation.

    makes me breath easier too :) i'm a sys admin newbie. only 2+ years of experience. i'm mostly doing linux/unix admin with some windows and i want to keep it that way. my next job i'm looking for is linux administration. that's what i enjoy doing and hopefully i can find a decent jr. admin position out there somewhere...

    so the more i see linux server rising, the more opportunity they'll be for me to do what i enjoy elsewhere

    What bothers me with windows is home use. You know how many home users are out there WITHOUT the latest patches becaue they don't know any better.

    My friend had to reinstall his parents computer because it was too infested with virus/spyware and I had to yell at him to put on sp2 which he still didnt do because it wasn't showing up on windows update or something like that.

    People with older dell systems pre sp2 just don't know and that scares me.

    Your right. That's the job of the CIO or whatever position the lead technical guy is called.

    I just feel the ceo should have enough understanding of the technical aspect where as he don't criticize the employees to the point where it hinders productivity. To illustrate an example of my own life, i work as a systems administrator for a small company of 100 people. There is only 2 of us and we are both overworked. The ceo doesnt want to hire a 3rd person for whatever reason but he'll still find time to make comments like "why can't you guys get everything fixed." I mean we're busting our asses just to barely keep up....

    So don't criticize if you don't know what your talking about or let your v.p. handle all that and don't hire hp's old ceo Carly ;)

    You can't kill something that's free.

    And on that note, this is such a moot point anyways. MS should worry about eradicating the spyware problem it help start and putting out reliable, VALUED filled products (i.e not charging $1000+ for a stupid word processor/spreadsheet/database suite). So with all that discontent surrounding ms' head to even suggest it can kill linux without cleaning up its act first is just pure ludacrious

    Piracy takes money away from people- it trickles down to the low end of the feeding chain a greater percentage of people don't work. That's reality in the film industry. It sucks, but it's reality.

    or those fat blaoted movie exec ticks and a-list actors can spread some of the wealth around. i'm not saying pirating is/isn't a problem but they'll use any excuse to keep money in their pockets and not pay the "common" people

    i still contend if you dont charge 10 for a movie ticket or 20 for a dvd you may not have so many pirates. and what's the big deal if you pirate a tv show? lets say i pirate episode 19 season 11 on the simpsons because i love that episode. is that espisode out on dvd yet? noooooo. will i get charged to watch it on fox when it comes around in 3 months time..nooooooooo. so from me watching that one particular episode is anybody really losing any money? yea i thought so....

    We do need a better justice system though if that is true. I can make a claim you just stole away my dignity and sue you for 150,000. I mean seriously why does the movie industry need that much money? Are they not getting enough for the $10 and change movie ticket prices?????

    It's not tough, its sensasationalism(sp?) at its best and as much as I like slashdot, they allow it because it sells or in this case gets heart felt responses. Tis the reason why I try to steer clear from all tv/press media.

    headline for that will read "this guy says he hates so and so, he cant stand his guts and he wants him and his family dead

    tis a truly sad world we live in

    Rhetorical question, because of Microsoft's monopolistic power, there setting the computer induster back years and holding off technology, technology that could cure cancer make smart cars less accident so people's lives can be saved, will you classify that as evil? :)

    Correct me if I'm wrong but didn't ms wrongly borrowed code from xerox thus starting this whole thing. If that's true ms was evil from day one!!!
