  1. My Eyes Doth Deceive Me. on Microsoft Warns of Impossible to Clean Spyware · · Score: 1
IMPOSSIBLE. After reading slashdot articles on windows server being more secure than RedHat and windows costing less in total ownership than Redhat or Suse, to believe windows people would admit to anything as spyware being impossible to remove is absurd!

Forgive me for my lack of ignorance on the following questions, but if windows, say in longhorn would just stop allowing everything and anyone but admin to install or execute files, wouldnt that solve the spyware problem? Is that actually a hard thing to do?

  2. I Want Real Studies Done.... on Study Finds Windows More Secure Than Linux · · Score: 1
If windows is more secure than linux, conducted in a real study but a 3rd party checking everything up the wahzoo imaginable then I'll believe it and give kudos to windows. BUT this isnt that study and here's why

    1) There's more than one flava of windows like there is more than one flava of linux. I want results from windows xp, windows 2000 and even windows nt along with Suse Enterprise, Mandrake and whatever other popular distribution is out there.

    2) As educated as they may be you clearly have 2 biased guys. One for windows and the other for linux who ODDLY converted over after one study. This may be really tough but I want a study done by people who isn't biased and who don't give a rats ass one way or the other which side wins out, maybe a mac user would be good for this? ;)

3)THE RESULTS NEEDS TO BE PUBLISHED. Granted I skimmed the article so I do not know if they did this but I want written in a paper, like any other good scientific study, who broke in at what time, what DOCUMENTED vulneribilities exist, did it cause any down time to the server and how long and what was done, if any to correct it any known bugs(i.e. sending in a bug report and responsiveness to it).

So until reports with at least these criteria gets published, I'm gonna ignore any study done in this nature.

That, my man, is why he did this interview. You think MS will send a guy that'll make the company look bad for an interview on a forum that's very heavily unix favored? NO, there sending in the big guns, the politician sweet talkers that delves on some of the issues, never gets to in depth to the question cause that will only lead to incrimination of course and in the process makes the company look good.

He may be a great guy personally, I don't know but all the more better or the company since now people have someon they can sympathize with. So my final take in all this, action speaks louder than words.......

I've read the first part of the interview, got tired and skimmed but what i didn't quite like was the interviewee slipping in his own questions into the fold. Just because your interviewing the guy shouldnt give you special priveledges. Put your questions on the forum to have it never be seen again like everyone elses!

That excludes my current job because its a small company, only 2 of us(though we can easily hire 2 more and still have enough work to go on) and literally no where to grow to..
Can I handle it? Probaby not. haha On that note I think I can get by. It's one of those things I won't know until I try and depends on the company too. I can see myself being happy in one company as management but hating it in another......

That article too was going for exaggerated effect but I guess that's ok after all
"In 2001, more than half a million people were injured in crashes where police reported that alcohol was present -- an average of one person injured approximately every 2 minutes"

So until I start hearing cell phones cause as many or more deaths/mangled bodies than drunk driving(which it is estimated more than 50% of fatal car accidents involve alcohol), I wouldn't start comparing the two....

Some people like to be left alone with little supervision as possible (like me) and others need there hands to be held sometimes to get along.
