Ever wonder why Nuclear Magnetic Resonance was renamed to Magnetic Resonance Imaging? People were scared that, like x-rays, they were going to be bombarded by radiation.
He's talking about talentless, unoriginal, sellout whores who are signed with a major label that often litigate against their customers. They make a lot of money and a good way to get signed with a major label is to know a guy who knows a guy whose dick you have to suck for a couple cool million.
Okay, I hear Microsoft, Sony, and Apple mentioned in the same sentence as "Stealing Ideas"- Who cares if they steal ideas or not? They're the most unpopular companies worldwide in terms of intellectual property; their stealing each others ideas is just a big corporate circle-jerk anyway. I don't think I'll ever forgive Sony for putting Lik-Sang out of business.
Aside from a glaring error in chapter 12 where Abagnale erroneously writes that true authentication is impossible on the Internet
What the fuck is this shit, slashdot?! Have you read YRO recently and have you heard the longstanding legal argument that a personal computer is far removed from a PERSON? I mean ffs, at the very least anything you do in code ignores the fact that a person may not be in control of their computer and its data!
Furthermore: The ultimate identity theft prevention plan is to NOT HAVE AN IDENTITY. If you don't use credit, if you don't use banks, if you don't have social security, there's nothing to steal. Change your name to John Smith, erase your fingerprints with a chemical burn, and gouge out your retinas.
Well, also note they said the CARBON footprint. Algae uses photosynthesis (ie: CO2 + H20 = C6H12O6 + O2 + H2O), so the process itself, for 32,000 km^2, might be factored into their calculations. On the whole, it seems pretty damn green. Algae grows like nobody's business using only sunlight, carbon dioxide, and nitrogen. If you could streamline that process and generate energy from it at low cost with a decent volume-to-output ratio, it seems pretty plausible that it would have a pretty big impact on the environment. However, low-cost is KEY. The biggest bottleneck in travel prices right now is the fluctuating price of oil- if you can offer a low-cost alternative that happens to also be green, you may get a bloody nobel prize. Otherwise, you simply won't sell and we'll all still be S.O.L. Of course, the government could like, subsidize this initiative instead of giving more money to the sheepfucking corn farmers. D:<
This is what Slashdot has become. Two years ago there would have been a frosty piss and a two-page discussion on how this douchebag OP was wrong to use the word "cybercriminals" (or cyberfoo for that matter), and how his article reads like a page out of the script to this flaming piece of shit. Where did we go? Since when did Slashdot become Eternal September? That's right point-bearing masses, mod me flamebait because nobody else has the balls to stand up to this kind of terrible quality news. FFS look at the damn article! It says nothing! It literally states something that was true ten years ago when the botnet was invented! News for NERDS? more like News for NEWBS. Christ alfuckingmighty.
Not so much what the drug affects, but what you *want* the drug to affect. Soldiers need to be afraid of combat. Military training is basically the process by which they tickle your fight-or-flight response and bend you towards "fight". Without fear, you cannot get the rush of adrenaline, you lose the motivation to kill, and thus you are useless on the front lines. Furthermore, in actual response, "fear" and "anxiety" are two different things. I'll say that I certainly didn't get a bone-chilling foreboding feeling talking to girls as a boy, but I certainly was anxious. Fear of women is less learned, though, since the natural anxiety coming from the rush of hormones should be instinctive. I'd contend that fear of women is natural, and that overcoming it is a natural process that comes with becoming more comfortable with your body, which some [slashdotters] never do.

Never mind that, there's trolling to be done!
