Oh give it a rest. Cite a source, other than Moorewatch* which documents some of his 'creative' editing.
*Moorewatch is a pretty ridiculous site. You can cite it, and I'll check it out, as anyone else can. But, from the times I've checked it out, they'll find any excuse to say something nasty, even if it's completely inconsistent with anything else they've said. Like when they called Moore an evil capitalist for *only* donating 60% of F 9/11's profits to charity. How horrible! But other times, he's a communist jerk. Well, anyway, waiting for the source.;-)
Reliance on the government? Ha! Should we have private militaries so we don't have to rely on the government for defense? Private education so that the government won't be teaching our children? Private police, private firemen? Seriously, how great was the quality of living when we *did* have those things, only they were private?
If your house burned down, but you didn't have fire insurance, too bad. No public education only led to no education. Back in the Roman Empire, you'd have wars for power between people's private armies, leading to massive bloodshed. Is this what you want?
The thing is, someone with $30 billion, or even $500 million, is not going to spend all of it. It might eventually be spent, but someone that is poor, or not so poor ($70K a year), is going to spend that money, and only keep a little for retirement, or college funds. The money is also not tied up in stock either, it's cash, essentially.
Sure, but that doesn't mean that it doesn't run on SAPI. You're a true idiot, you know that? Sure, it might be running in multithreaded mode, but andig already answered why you shouldn't, because of the third part packages and the like. So, just shutup, you're obvious trolling just proves how stupid you are.
Jeez, you're a bad troll. I've been running it as SAPI for a while now. So, when did you last check? 1995? If the rest of your info is that old, why do you think anyone would believe you? You're as bad as the trolls on alt.sci.physics that deny GR and SR.
This post becomes funny later on, just skip the OT BIT FIRST for the funny bit.
[OT BIT FIRST] I found your post very funny, but indeed, it's modding annoys me. The poster right above you posted something equally funny, but was liberal, and gets modded down as flamebait, yet you wrote something conservative (sarcastic liberalism;-) ), and it's not modded down at all.
With a lot of conservatives claiming that/. is liberally biased, this shows essentially that it's not, unless there is a fluke accident in which there are only conservative mods today. Well, anyway, your post was funny, even if it was conservative;-)[/OT BIT FIRST]
[FUNNY BIT] Also, Kerry is to blame, as his flip-flopping combined with Edwards' magnetic personality only amplified the problem, which is believed to have started back in the 70's when Kerry moved massive quantities of magnetic iron medals by tossing them over fences. Another possible cause was the buildup of military forces in Iraq, as all of the magnetic iron used in arms was moved across the world, unbalancing the magnetic market and causing a large U.S. magnetism deficit.:-)
If anyone claims that Slashdot is liberal, I'm just gonna point them to your post and how it's modded. It's a funny post, it hits on current events in a way relevent to the original poster, and is also insightful in it's own way. Jeez, guys, it's a joke!
My favorite quote about barcodes on the OP's post: "Bar codes, such as these, have already appeared in some Midwestern stores. According to researchers: the F - is for FOREHEAD, and the H - is for HAND! And according to researchers, the purchaser must have a mark in their right hand or forehead before purchasing!"
Also, I remember seeing a website about how SSNs are the Mark of the Beast because, *gasp*, 3*2=6 (first three nums and second two nums), 2+4=6 (second two nums, and third four nums), and someother thing equals six. Therefore, SSNs are evil!
I second that. Mock idealists are just trying to get a free ride, and, really, they are more deserving of lockup than people trying to stop unjust laws. That's not to say people trying to stop unjust laws should not be locked up. They should, but they should also fight against the law, not the punishment. Eh, that was the most convoluted thing I've ever written. Nevermind.
spreading propaganda and misinformation which is then believed as scientific fact by the gullable and naieve, and generally getting in the way of people who actually know what they're doing and usually doing good.
Yeah, I remember reading a little article on moorewatch about how Moore is an evil capitalist because he's being payed out of revenue, not profits (which is how it always works), and that's causing the charities he's donating 60% of the profits to to get less money. Oh no!
No, not necessarily a cloud, that was the OP's point. I was really just saying that a cloud does not really remove knowledge of what individual files are. That's what metadata is for.:-)
While I agree that it is stupid to get rid of the tree, but, having a cloud does not eliminate knowledge of what you're looking for. Well, that's all I have to say, I couldn't care one way or the other, all I want is for Linux to support this *and* normal filesystems.
They're not sharing one monitor, they each get their own monitor, keyboard, and mouse. The main server has 4 video cards each going to a monitor. This really isn't that neat though, as it's not a very new idea. So, you're main idea that this is a waste of time is still true.
But, but, those nasty terrorists are going to kill ALL of us! NOOOOOO! Please take my freedom of speech!
OK, seriously now, that is quite true that our rights are being stripped away, which is very wrong, very very wrong, but then, wasn't there some course of action to stop such tyranny? I've got it! Revoluti...[END TRANSMISSION]
OK, in true seriousness now, the U.S. does have a long way to fall yet, and with a few more months or even 4 more years, it's gonna be tough to become that bad.
Also, hasn't China discovered yet that so far the best governments have been free? They've turned mostly capitalist, and look how they're doing now! Maybe it's time for them to allow freedom of speech too. Then they wouldn't have to care so much about reactionaries, as the only large legitimate complaint would be elections essentially. Well, there are other human rights being infringed upon in China, so, once they fix those, which will probably not happen for a long time, there will only be elections as a legit problem. Elections, well, they're not gonna happen in China without a revolt. Only forward thinking people give up power.
Eh, scratch that anyway, they'll always be worrying about reactionaries. Who am I kidding.
Pravda had an article around 2001 that said that terrorists were repelled from two nuclear weapons facilities. Just imagine if they weren't. Probably not Al Quada though, anyway. Granted on the sidebar, they had pictures of aliens and boys from mars.
Anyway, I thought the tech required to build a nuke was around 300? *
*Very obscure Empire joke
Well, I'm not too sure about giving the Iraqis the money directly. Granted, this is all from propagandized american media, but I've heard Iraqis say that they're not going to be bought out by American money. Hey, if I was living in a poor country that saw this rich country get everything it wanted, I'd be a little ticked too.
Mainly, I don't have a clue! So take this as you will.
One of the things the military has been trying to do of late is develop it's air power to be able to handle a small scale war in 48 hours (or something like that). In some book ( I think the title was 'How To Make War') the last chapter is spent going over how that is not possible currently, and would take a lot more airplanes for it ever to be possible. So, yes, the Navy is still bery important.
And of course, selling all of these weapons, which lead to wars, in which afterwards countries need weapons to defend themselves, and then wars start, and then they need more weapons....*
*Gah, that was very badly written, but you all know what I mean right?
What's to stop the EU from turning off Galileo? That's the other big question here. Galileo seems to be a response to the U.S. having total control over GPS, and being able to turn off civilian use on a whim. But, really, why is the EU *so* much better that they would not do the exact same thing?
What happens when the EU starts a war? Are they not going to shut off Galileo? And what's to stop the EU and US from shutting off both at the same time during wars? It would make plenty of sense. Just don't think that the EU is perfect and would never do something so *awful* as turning of civilian galileo during a war to save their soldier's lives.
So, is LiMux going to be a new distro, or are they going to be buying one from a certain vendor? The translation was a *tad* too horrible for me to figure out. It would be cool if they made a new distro, but I think the best goal would be to take a commercial one and just make it fit. Maybe take SuSe, strip out the unnecessary stuff, change the desktop and that's really all they would need. Of course, they have extra apps that they need to install. Well, I'm sure they have much more of a clue about what they need to do than I do. Good Luck Munich!
Right... Insurgents don't count as terrorists either, right? These people attacking American troops, are they part of the Iraqi army? Obviously not, the only Iraqi army now is the one being recruited for in Baghdad now. Sure, these terrorists might be former Iraq military personnel, but now they're terrorists, or freedom fights(j/k).

You know, they never did seem nervous to me... Frankly, if I'm standing there with an M16, I'd feel pretty secure.

Secret Ballots. Otherwise a sufficiently motivated group could bully voters who previously voted for another party.
