Admittedly my facebook page is just a holder so that people can get in touch with me if needed... but it's useful even just for that.
And an email address wouldn't do that? The only time it wouldn't is if the other person didn't know your email address, and really, I'd prefer strangers couldn't work out my email address from personal data. And vice versa, come to think of it.
Actually, IM is legitimately different than email, which has no presence notification, and certainly isn't instant in pretty much any implementation I've seen.
Gmail comes closest - it does have a presence indicator (since it's integrated with googlechat) and it's close to instant.
At this point, people are just winding you up, poking you for an expected reaction. And your giving it to them. (considers where in this post to put a deliberate mistake)
I've been happier as the customer of the handset vendor (NexusOne) than the customer of carrier phones (usually HTC Windows via Telstra) You certainly get software updates in a more timely fashion.
And on the front page, there's the option to turn it on or off, and have that choice stick. Why seek to stop others from choosing on? (that said, I prefer it off)
No, it's not unreasonable. They turned down doing an interview by video camera, because if the questioning should warrant an arrest, there would no way to arrest him over video conferencing. This is entirely reasonable.
If the questioning should warrant an arrest, they can issue a warrant at that time. The immediate gratification of cuffing him instantly is not entirely reasonable.

Strawman a lot?
Nah, Google will probably start serving trash to Bing. Then Microsoft will sue Google.
If you wait til you're 100 til you eat test-tube meat, likely it'll be getting minced up for you...
But if the app store says it has the golden shower app downloaded, then the warranty's void.
Can QuickTime do anything in one second? (apart from crash)
It isn't where they happen to be based, it's where they want to do business. As Microsoft found some years ago, I recall.
It might be, isn't it still happening?
He's not a patriot for the same reason he's not a traitor.
Off the top of my head: Cost of moving existing system? Cost of retraining?
Fair use via parody?

Most college admissions offices print out the electronic application, and then go by that.
And then scan the printout into an image, and paste the image into an Excel spreadsheet. (yes, I've seen this)
Or there's the people that submit webcammed movies of bug reports that run for 30min+
Conciseness is good, but if you carry it too far, you end up with SMS or tweet-speak.
Someone woke up without their sense of humour this morning. (AKA, who pissed in *your* cornflakes?)

The model for cell phones in the US is VASTLY different than the rest of the world.
Ok, let me re-ask the question, "would you guys in the USA prefer the model the rest of the world uses?"
Because, if you asked the question "would the rest of the world prefer the USA model?" I suspect the answer would be a resounding "NO"
Given that you answer Yes, what are you doing about it?

A hardware failure couldn't be triggered by a DDOS?

That and the incredible return on pay per view.
Just another kind of wikileak.
