    Or it could be that whenever you play the game you load at least part of it into RAM. And if you want a super-fast gaming rig, you use RAM as HD space, loading WoW fully onto there would give you a massive speed boost.

    That's a decision the OS may make on your behalf, anyway, if you have a lot of RAM. Thus was born caching.

    I'd be happy to see Yahoo! gone. All those useless searches from Google pointing into Yahoo sites gone? What's not to like about that?

    Seriously though, SUVs just went from first place to last place in sales. We have crossed a watershed line.

    It's entirely possible 2 things killed the SUVs - low fuel economy, and the end of a fad. I can't really be sad to see the end of them. Some ppl will need 4wd vehicles, but SUVs were an imitation of that, in many cases.

    Their profit margins aren't my concern, and it's silly to be expected to carry cash to make small purchases. I don't think I want small stores to increase the price of a cup of coffee by a few dollars so you aren't "inconvenienced" by having to carry change.

    Interesting idea though... could you imagine if someone sold recipe books where each recipe disintegrated 2 days after it was first used? Ah, eBooks. I can see that coming next in their oh-so-restrictive licensing terms. First, get people used to the book that they can buy, but not sell or give away, on the premise that the book is cheaper. Then hike the price to the price of a normal book...

    The GP probably just lives in the midwest like me. Its people paying $500k for a 790sq/ft home who are living in a fantasy IMO. A fantasy where you can walk to work in 5 minutes, say? Looking like a good fantasy the way petrol prices are going.

    Or a panel that looks like a window. Allows for presenting a 'normal view' most of the time, and doing exploits for unsuspecting visitors. A nuke going off, for instance. A representation of the last trump for those annoying religious callers

    I wouldn't mind if they jammed mobiles inside theatres. Sometimes I forget to turn the damned ringer to vibrate, my bad, but I don't pick up the call, I just press divert to msg. Then set it to vibrate.

    Hmm. wonder if a hacked phone could act as a jammer.

    And if you spend years making a car on the promise that you'll sell a hundred of them. And then sell one to a person who makes exact copies of it... well you probably wont make any more cars, will you? Almost as bad as if you made a product, sold it to a publisher who made copies of it and sold them, and gave you one cent in the dollar if he sold more than 100.

    But deleting the .ncb does make sense, considering that's the data used for IntelliSense. With VC 6, the file would often get corrupted, and deleting it would fix the issues. With newer versions, that's sometimes the issue, but apparently there are other issues as well. Yes, I know it gets corrupted, and it seems to have some other issue that makes it grow rather large. I meant it doesn't make sense, in the sense that it happens too often - if you had a database that returned: "Tables corrupted, reload from backup" all the time, you wouldn't think much of it[1] :)

    Is Ctrl+ScrollLock supposed to mean something or was that just a stupid comment? Yes, it does do something. Ever had the error: "No files were found to look in. Find was stopped in progress." Ctrl+ScrollLock fixes that.
