You actually do not have to sit there turning a crank to power the computer. Simply start the process and then let it run. Less than a half hour of your time in total, and you have irrecoverable data.
It is my understanding that there has never been a single proven recovery of a drive that was simply zeroed out. No silly "military grade" wipe software necessary.
I am unsure if you are being sarcastic or not. If some random person on the street calls you a name you cannot get the police involved. How do you think organizations like the KKK, WBC, and more still exist?
In what way are United States governors tyrants? Are they not placed in power by the voters? Or is your assertion that you know better than all of the respective states' voters?
If their actions are truly "very unpopular" with the voters then those governors won't be there after the next election. If they are still around then their actions obviously weren't as unpopular as they are being portrayed.
I would suggest we blame the campaign finance laws that require them to behave that way.
I fail to see the connection between campaign finance laws and politicians pandering to whatever the voters currently want. Election campaigns could magically be free and they would still behave in this manner. They want votes, and consistency (currently) does not win you elections.
... and no principles that consistently direct their decision-making since that would require a spine and would likely interfere with retaining power.
You really want to make excuses for that?
You said it yourself; politicians in the upper levels of government must set aside principles to stay in office. If you want to blame someone, blame the voters who force them to behave that way. We get the government we deserve.
You have never done user support on Windows systems. If I had a quarter for every time a user used the wrong slash when trying to access a system (domain\username) I would be a millionaire. It is necessary to stress which slash you mean when talking to the public.
it's funny to watch them read through messages that they've already read just so they don't have to socially interact face to face with someone they really don't know
Have you considered the possibility that they just do this with you?:)
Call them "lazy", "sneaky", and "rude" to their face; or at least to their parents' faces. Do not post it to the entire world on Facebook. At the very least do not act surprised when you are fired for it.
Just tried it (again) yesterday. Unskippable ads on thedailyshow.com and colbertnation.com. Those are the only two I tried this time, but previously I was getting the same issue with southparkstudios.com among others. These are all blocked with AdBlock Plus for Firefox. These are the ads I am talking about.
Yet it still doesn't have an equivalent to AdBlock Plus.
And for the Chrome-heads who point out AdBlock, it is a good start but still nowhere near as effective. It lets many ads through, it still downloads and just hides a large chunk of ads, and it does not seem to stop flash ads at all.
This is untrue. No MMO, with the exception of Final Fantasy 11, has deleted accounts. I can reactivate accounts that are a decade or older and all my characters are still there.
I really wonder if any line exists that the Chinese government can cross that will result in action taken against them by other countries and their own citizens.
It comes down to a difference in opinion about whose rights are more important
This is an incorrect summary of the abortion debate. It comes down to when you declare a mass of tissue a human being.
Only a small percentage of the population at reddit have a basic understanding of SOPA and PIPA. Reddit is for cat pictures and memes.
Except the company has deep pockets, while the fired individual is unemployed.

That is a direct [sic] from the linked article.
The FDIC ensures that your money is safe, even in the event of a bank run. There is no such assurance for Full-Tilt Poker.
Not a thing changes until first past the post goes.

A child has not proven they can be treated as an adult. Like it or not, they really are different.
And any random 40 year old has not proven they can be treated like an adult either. That's a weak excuse.

What a difference a character can make.

This is Slashdot; it is 2010-10-10.
I'd be willing to take a $10k-$20k cut in salary for a more secure job...one that isn't going to lay me off unless it at least has good reason to.
Then best bet is to work for the federal government.
