Have you tried X-Wing alliance? Improved graphics and much more of a story than in the other x-wing games. Granted it's several years old but the graphics hold up surprisingly well. And it plays flawlessly even on older machines.
plus it also has a whole lot more vehicles that you can fly. Includint the YT-1300
I used to always put my cartridge in the game genie and plug it in. Almost always worked. Then this summer in order to use my friends we had to put the cartridge in just far enough so the top of the cart would scrape the nes as we pushed it down.
Speaking of in Jokes there are always the inside Llama jokes in Most of the early Maxis games.
I never completley understood why they put them there though.

thats kiddy stuff
The other week we made Georgia Tech's webserver unusable. With a story about an Xbox hacked to run Mac OS. GT has one of the fastest connections in the country and has the southeast region internet hub on campus.
No actually the reason the west gets evrything after places like Japan is because we are less tolerant of faults and less tech savvy generally.
They get the 1st gen devices that still have bugs in them. We get the 2nd gen devices that have the major bugs worked out and are more stable.
My old school (community college) finally hit 1200 while I was there. I loved being able to register online. It's so much easier to get your schedule organized. Especially from home rather than having to fill out lots of paper work to add or drop a class it just takes a few clicks.
AFAIK VOIP is intended to replace existing telephone but I dont know how they are going to do that. I see 3 big challenges. 1. those that are less than tech savvy are going to be wary of it, 2. No cordless ability. And if they were they would probably have to connect through 802.11 requiring a router then there's privacy worries and extra cost etc. 3. Cell phones offer much more mobility and easier access than VOIP I already ditched my landline in favor of a cell phonedont make any out of state calls and I have statewide calling so I see no benefit to pay for another phone service.
I'm sure most people on/. have at LEAST one extra monitor gathering dust and probably a couple old video cards as well. Heck my 2nd monitor is running off an old 2mb ATI card
I believe it stores it on your machine. I use kerio personnal firewall and so far it has tried once to call home (which I blocked) And it still works.
Whenever you try to search with it it reads from 127.0.0.1
btw I have 19,500+ objects found and the folder google desktop search is stored in takes up 1.5mb
I didnt even have time to read the comments on/. before the d/l finish. I was downloading at 125 kb on cable and never even received an upload request.
I regularly watch the daily show as well as conentional news channels and I tend to remember what stewart says as opposed to what the major media outlets say.
yes I know there are plenty of p2p apps out there but I was thinking of something with googles weight behind it and where you dont have to worry about getting sued for downloading/sharing a file that has a similar filename as a movie produced within the last 1000 years
You dont notice a change in speed cause it only indexes when your computer is idle. Course I wish there was an option to change that back and forth. It would be cool if you could put txts and docs into a special folder acessible to the outside world.
I discovered years ago that by looking into temporary iinternet files I could see what e-mail my sister had gotten from her bf's. Google just makes it accesible for non tech savvy.
True but i've also seen several people type google into the msn search box then click on the google link when it comes up.
why dont we just name FF internat or intarweb names that ppl willrecognize and arent (to my knowledge) copyrighted.
I watched a friend of mine type in the name of a website wrong so of course it brought up the MS search engine.
In the MS search box she then proceeded to type in google and hit enter. Does anyboy else see the incredible irony in this?

My point exactly

History also plays a BIG part of the freedoms in a country. Look at how much money the U.S. had in the beginning.
