  1. Great on Pro Gaming Comes to Network TV · · Score: 1

Like I give a shit about "professional gamers". Being good at games dosen't make you a good person. Less so than professional sports.

  2. Sounds like.... on Homeland Security Tracks Information of Travelers · · Score: 3, Funny

...the makers of this system need to work on Netflix's reccomendation system.

  3. I have a question.... on Is Microsoft An Innovator? - The Winer-Scoble Debate · · Score: 1

What the poop is a "technical evangelist"?

  4. Not just for grannies! on Apples Are For Grannies? · · Score: 0, Troll

Lots of sissies and rich film students I know use apples, too!

  5. Also, on Recycled Tires Could Filter Water · · Score: 2, Funny

From a billboard in Fight Club(movie):

"You can use recycled motor oil to fertilize your lawn!"

  6. Re:Paris Hilton and Daryl Hannah! on Top Ten Geek Girls · · Score: 1

Would you consider Patrick Stewart a geek just because he was in ST:TNG and "Dune"?

No, he was in X-men, too! Remember? :)

  7. Re:Real geeks only please on Top Ten Geek Girls · · Score: 2, Insightful

It must be very empowering to women(as it is to men) to be labeled "geek" when someone is intelligent. "Geek", to me, is a fairly slanderous term, and I think you can be intelligent - even an IT guy - without being a geek.

  8. Re:Which XBox 360.... on Gears of War Review · · Score: 5, Funny

Wrong. XBox360's that were smashed with a hammer will not run this game. Also, if you keep your 360 underwater, it will not run. The game will also certainly not run if the system's unplugged.

  9. IT people. on Archiving Digital Data an Unsolved Problem · · Score: 1

'Your problem is so big, it's probably stupid to try and solve it.'"

Sounds like general end-user hate crime to me. Hey, I've been guilty many times of shunning a user because I didn't feel like fixing his stupid problem.

  10. Re:Other applications on The Mechanics of Motion Sensing · · Score: 1

That makes sense. Dosen't Wii come with wireless networking built-in? Or am I confusing it with the PS3?

  11. Re:Fight?! What fight?! on When High End Gaming Machines Fight · · Score: 1

Personally, I like to build my own system, as high-end as I want. That way, I don't spend $4000 on something that could cost 300-500 bucks.

I think most of these "contests" and things among the PC manufacturers are mainly pissing contests.

  12. Re:Say What? on CSIRO Wireless Patent Reaffirmed In US Court · · Score: 1

I thought it was a IEEE standard(3rd party)

  13. Say What? on CSIRO Wireless Patent Reaffirmed In US Court · · Score: 1

How can they collect royalties from Buffalo for every wireless device sold in the world? Does buffalo technology own the patent for that? Wouldn't that mean that companies like Netgear would have to pay them to manufacture wireless gear? I thought that the 802.11 standard was just that, not a patent.

  14. Pics on Zune Not Compatible With Windows Vista · · Score: 1

That's some nice picture of some chick being traumatised from what seems to be the waist down. I hope that picture dosen't run through the whole install. A little disturbing!

  15. Great.... on Monitor a Linux Box With Machine Generated Music · · Score: 1

I want minor chords when something is failing, and business as usual should play "Walking on Sunshine"...

So does this also mean that people will start releasing CDs based on log files?

  16. Myth? on Cybercrime — an Epidemic? · · Score: 1

I once heard that a significant percentage of computer virusses are written because of the russian mafia's influence. Is this true?

P.s. Please limit your responses to things that are not "In Soviet russia, Virii write you!", etc.

  17. That's because on Democrat Win May Be Good News For Internet Policy · · Score: 1

    Al Gore invented the internet...

But really, I think I would agree that Democratic politicians have a better grasp of what the "internets" are.

  18. Let me answer your question with this statement... on Is An Uninformed Vote Better Than No Vote? · · Score: 4, Insightful

Informed-ness is in the eye of the beholder.

  19. Of course it is.... on Guitar Hero Is Big Hit With Bands · · Score: 1

    They get royalties.

  20. Re:Scariest game moments on Games and Fear · · Score: 1

Quake was pretty scary the first time. Diablo, when I played it for the first time, seemed pretty scary(I think it came out when I was only about 14.)

  21. Re:Or you could... on Throwable Game Controllers · · Score: 2, Funny

Yes, when you get mad at a game, nearly any controller can be thrown. Many controllers support multi-directional throwing, too. Some even have shatter-resistant architechture.

  22. working together to blow everybody's heads off. on Black Hole Observed by X-Ray Satellite · · Score: -1, Flamebait

It's always nice to see national space agencies working together, it almost gives me hope that the world might one day be united in space exploration."

Space agencies, maybe. But citing US politics and a recent Slashdot article, I believe that space exploration is mostly driven by military gain. An unfortunate truth that Bush thinks the whole point of space is to keep big guns to point at people. And space agencies are funded by who????

  23. Re:Off-topic on Top 10 Web 2.0 Attack Vectors · · Score: 0

"The article is spread over 6 short pages and there is no printer-friendly URL."

Dammit! I always print out both Slashdot discussions and source articles for archive purposes. Now what?

  25. Re:Too much work on Tales From Behind Microsoft's Firewall · · Score: 5, Insightful

Face it: even the most virulent criticism of MS here would contain enough useful information that if Gates & Co. actually paid attention, they'd find innumerable ideas for improving their wares. And all for free.

Criticism != constant flames. They'd have to sort through hours of "Micr0$0f7 suxx, lam3r!!!" in order to get any useful information. Not terribly dissimilar from regular Slashdot users.
