    What you're proposing would be a world of confusion for most users -- having to adjust permissions of each and every bit of information you post? Just try explaining Unix-ish file permissions to someone (even some IT types) and it's bad enough. Your suggestion would inevitably lead to showing the wrong thing to the wrong person right off the bat due to the learning curve.

    It kind of sounds like you want to live the life of a double-agent, hiding information from certain people in your lives. You may have bigger problems.

    If I recall correctly, many (most?) OSS licenses explicitly permit this kind of activity. If you don't want that to happen, be sure you're using the right kind of license.

    Israel... Gestapo. I'm guessing you're paraphrasing? It would seem usage of the term would be rather frowned upon. I can't imagine the general population frequently employing such a phrase and saying, "oh, we're over that -- it's all history now."

    You're leading yourself to a rather pure philosophical argument. But I might agree that we need "bad" extremists.

    Having nutjobs on both ends of a spectrum lends the rest of us (middle of the bell curve) a bit of perspective, whether it's in regards to technology, politics or religion.

    Of course, it might be that my "good" extremists are your "bad" extremists and so on.

    PHP doesn't make crappy code, coders do. The same could be said (and has been said) about Perl, but it doesn't make it true.
