It was the best the author could do, under the circumstances. It was exceedingly difficult to draw comparisons with Libraries of Congress, Volkswagen Beetles or football fields.
So how exactly are these "nuclear battery" TRIGA supposed to actually create useful power? The flow of hydrogen atoms to the "hydrogen trays?" It doesn't say protons.
Of course, I am treating wikipedia as infallible here. Maybe that is the flaw.
Indeed. After reading that explanation, I could only think to myself, "TRIGA? Please..."
You know, I'd had a need for an rsync-like tool for Windows (specifically between Windows Server 2003 machines). I found a Windows-based rsync implementation (whose name I can't recall), but the tool was clunky and unreliable. I saw someone suggest Unison, but do you have any other suggestions specifically for Windows?
Sometimes I think that I'd like patents to be granted in the same way a DM grants wishes in an AD&D campaign. Word it carefully, specifically, and don't ask for too much... or you're likely to be the victim of the law of unintended consequences.
I've always thought that was a bit awkward, like someone saying, "I'm not handicapped, I'm handi-capable!".
Do you make this suggestion because you're able-bodied but think it's the preferred term, or because you consider yourself to be "differently abled" and want others to use that term? This isn't a troll, I'm actually curious.
No idea if it is true, but who on earth wants to hear the dying gurgle of a good friend?
I think the professional relationship comes first, friendship second. People in a variety of earthly professions see death every day. Do you really think ignorance is the ideal choice here?
While I'm not providing any specific trick per say, on topic are a few useful links: http://www.regular-expressions.info/ - this one is handy for regex info particularly in Javascript which I use so infrequently I need to know how to match, capture, substitute, etc. http://perldoc.perl.org/perlre.html - plenty of regex info there which is Perl specific, but of course extends to many other similar implementations
The gratuitous trailers, advertisements and such are precisely the reason why (on the few occasions) I never panic if I arrive "late" to a film in the theater. The only reason to arrive early is to get halfway decent seats. If you arrive late, you maybe don't have great seats, but you didn't have to sit through the advertising drivel.
Is Obama really that much better than McCain? Would McCain have been worse than Bush? I just saw two complete liars campaigning. Obama just got away with telling bigger lies.
You know, I typically think of myself as the most cynical sonofabitch I know... but even I hadn't cast such disparaging eyes at both candidates.
Frankly, my candidate won the presidency last night, and even I felt a wave of emotion as Obama delivered his speech to the hundred-thousand folks in Grant Park.
Yes, Obama is better than McCain for his humility and ability to gather people around him and rally for a cause, find solutions. The McCain/Palin ticket frightened the bejeezus out of me solely for the "one heartbeat" factor. I could go on about all of the GOP ticket's flaws... Palin is(was) a post turtle, McCain's intermittent visible symptoms of dementia, war-mongering ("bomb, bomb Iran"???)...
The last time I saw her state her stance, it was this: "teach [evolution and creationism] in class and let the students critically analyze both."
This is actually a problem in modern media -- the "journalists" (I use this term loosely) want to give equal time to the nutjobs. Take for another example the vaccinations vs autism discussions. There's little credible evidence to correlate these two items, but if one parent squawks loudly enough, the local news reporter wants to cover it, thus elevating the visibility of the nutjob theory far above that which is justified.
What's wrong with it, aside from brimming with hubris and jingoism?
If, as you say, "yes, the mission was accomplished", do you believe that Bush would hang that banner again if he could go back in time?
It reminds me of a Bill O'Reilly appearance on Letterman (this was many months ago) when Bill asked Dave (paraphrased), "Don't you want to win [the war], Dave? It's a simple question!"
To which Dave replied, "But it's not a simple question, because I'm thoughtful."

Congratulations, you've DOSed the help desk.

And you could patent stupidity.
I'm quite certain that'd be one case in which prior art would not go unnoticed.
...use separate sandboxed browsers for finance vs email vs ... vs porn browsing.
Fixed that for you.

Nah. Dig this (NSFW)
You can prove it. Just show the potential employer you've got the source code. ;)
And why have a Korean play a Japanese character (Sulu)? WTF? I guess they are depending on the old cracker saying "what's the difference?"
No kidding. It'd be as silly as an Irish Canadian playing a Scotsman, an Englishman playing a Frenchman, an American playing a Russian. ;)

Great idea, then I just need the bank to foot the bill for a mobile phone. I don't have one and don't need one.

Don't forget to ask for a pony.

In other words, OpenID suffers from so many of the same usability problems as PGP.
Joe Internet User?? Just think of Joe the Plumber! (Maybe he's got a leg up, what with the tubes and stuff)
Are you by chance Sicilian?
Because it is cheaper to patch code written in 1970, than re-write it and go through the QA process to ensure the end product does the same thing.
Unless you're actually talking about insurance (which I suppose you technically could) the word you're looking for is "ensure". </pedantic>
Except if you're using a "Top Stories" gadget, you'll now get all links to UK website, FYI.
