There's this funny thing called a "double entendre" where you try to describe a situation in an ambiguous way, often as part of something else called a "joke."
... On second thought, there is simply no way you can be serious.
If dicking around with a task manager means that I have internet always available for every wifi device I happen to have within 100 feet, then yes. It seems like a good tradeoff.
The iPhone SDK is not exactly the most awesome thing since sliced bread. The interface is easy to program, but you can only run one third party app at a time.
Want to make a chat application? Have an ssh session running in the background? Have the wifi card work as a wireless router with an internet connection through the cellphone service? Nope, sorry. The hardware can do it, but it's not part of Steve Job's vision.
So the military thinks that people are more likely to divulge information while under the influence of marijuana than the influence of alcohol? I bet they have some really compelling evidence to back up their medical opinion.
Let me guess. Using marijuana makes you more likely to associate with communists and the "degenerate races," while getting shitfaced is a long standing red-blooded American tradition.
Sometimes I think that maybe I should have joined up instead of going to college. It's a good thing that these threads pop up occasionally to remind me how messed up the military can be.

THIS.
Best Buy gets to benefit from the additional profits made by the RIAA for suing people for thousands of dollars per stolen copyrighted song. They want to reimburse exactly nothing per copyrighted file owned by their customer after stealing her laptop. They don't get to have it both ways.
I'm guessing they'll use some kind of watermarking. But, do you really want every photo you take to be unambiguously traced back to you? On one hand, photos you take can be traced back to you. On the other hand, the watermarking or metadata could probably be removed by a third party. It seems lose-lose for the camera owner.
Yeah, I did read that and I was speaking generally about the whole semantic web buzz and not specifically about the artcile. This is a case of a single third party categorizing a large amount of data. Since they are all categorized in the same way the potential for abuse is low. But is that an improvement over current search algorithms?
And this seems to be a major problem of the whole semantic web buzz. Search engines like Google can cut down on abuse because they're a third party that is unrelated to the content. The whole semantic web thing offloads categorization to the content source, the very party that is most likely to try to abuse the system.
It just doesn't seem like the best idea in the world to me.
To the end user, the OS is all the stuff that came in the OS retail box. Applications are things that they have to purchase in a store or download off a website.
Now, Linux distros come with package managers. The user doesn't ever have to download an install file or purchase another cd. It's not surprising that new *nix users assume that the whole kitchen sink is "Linux".
Everyone goes to the Dodge dealer to look at a Dodge Viper. Some of them buy a Stratus or Neon. It's the halo effect. Even if the Macbook Air just gets people into the stores to buy the "omg better deal" Macbooks, it'll be a success for Apple.
No shit, Sherlock.

Kirk topless for no reason in the blink of an eye? They REALLY ARE staying true to the original!
Now I remember why I read slashdot.
Although, I do see your point. I'm looking for customization and functionality over ease of use and efficiency. Their target customer is not me.

The point is that I'd rather have that choice.

Their hardware is solid. They just need to release an OS that is more capable than Windows 3.1.
They're just beta testing the new iPhone feature: iStopWorkingAllOfASudden.
That leapfrog trades a lot of features to gain that security. Since Firefox doesn't sacrifice features... well, yeah, it really IS better.
Clean energy sources like electricity? In half of the US, "electric cars" should be renamed "coal-powered cars".

I lol'd. It's too bad I've already posted or I'd give you a +1 funny.
And if you are looking for meaning, God is a crutch.

They'll just throttle their upload speed so it's slower than their storage space growth rate.

Yeah, that is a good one. Too bad I'm fresh out of mod points.

Applecare isn't free. You're just paying the price for a battery replacement up front as part of the extended warranty, whether you use it or not.
It's just taking them a bit longer than usual to 'shop out all the UFO's.
HAHA Oh wow. I clicked play and it gave me a Poligrip Denture Adhesive commercial. "Never lose that important grip!"
Off topic, but anal sex accounts for only 0.6% of AIDS transmission.
