I drink bottled water because it tastes better. I don't know what makes this 'trendy' either. Healthy lifestyle? For all you know i use this to mix my alcohol with. And since it's about 30 eurocents for 2 liter of water, i can't say it's a way to show off with my money.
If the **AA wants to collect your IP address they simply have to join the swarm.
I often think about this. Ofcourse, they're able to do this and obtain ip addy's of everybody who's sharing. But in joining the swarm, they're also sharing (and thus, contributing to the swarm). Which means, i think, that they're doing something illegal. Can they still sue after being illegal themselves? I would think that all excuses they come up with are the same other people could use.
NTLM authentication works fine in recent versions of Mozilla/Firefox/Gecko, even on non-Windows platforms.
Well, for me it doesn't (Firefox/Linux). But i found that aps (NTLM Authorization Proxy Server) works perfectly. Just edit the configuration file so that it matches your u/p/domain, run the (python) script and point your browser to the ip/port it opens.
They were not being "nice" but they weren't hurting anyone (at least not yet).
'Yet'... So we have to wait until they (ab)use credit cards before they should be stopped?
The real problem I have is Lowes was putting credit card data on a wireless network!
I agree this is pretty dumb, but it's still no reason for it to get cracked. Think about this: you have an expensive house and several heavy locks on your door. One day you forget to lock them. Does this justify every burglar that walks up to your house, opens the door, enters your house and sets up camera's? Okay, they didn't steal anything (yet), but it's really your fault. Yeah right. They knew exactly what they were doing, and the fact that the security wasn't good enough is *no* reason whatsoever to justify this crime.
I have to buy the magazine to read the article? Is pcpro using slashdot to do some advertising for them? Maybe i'll try it out too. I'll come up with an amazingly interesting story, accompanied by a link to the product i want to sell. Since nobody obviously ever validates the link before posting, i get free advertising! *sigh*
I'm sure you meant otherwise, but saying you prefer [a client] over [a protocol] makes no sense. I use putty to connect to my linux firewall which runs openssh.
FTA: The software runs from the CD without being installed
and a few lines down:
The wizard presents a menu of reading documentation, running the X Server from the CD and installing the software to the hard drive
So, does it run completely from cd or not? If it really needs to install stuff to the harddisk it could form a problem in work environments where users might not have write access to the harddisk.
Yes, because it's your choice of browser. You're totally free in that and i'll be the last person to say what you _should_ use.
however...
No, because you know the limitations of lynx. Lynx doesn't support frames, flash, java applets etc. Certain sites are made to show a certain type of content. If you go to a site of a photo-editing company (for example), you'll know that you'll face graphical content. In this case the argument is not realistic.
Exactly. I've created an entire website in Flash that makes use of a MySQL dbase, sends mail using a small php script. Point is, everything is possible with Flash. Okay, not *everything*, but alot more than just banners. If you care to read up on the docs, you'll find that Flash does more than you think. And some other things are just far more easier in Flash than with HTML/ASP/PHP/Javascript.
I'm really confused why so many people seem to hate Flash. The arguments that these people use are also completely nonsense. Like Flash is always huge in size. Pffft. My site is just 80kb. This includes pictures and sounds. Flash *can* be huge, yes. But that's up to the designer.
I'm using BayesIt! spamfilter for TheBat! for more than a year now, and i have yet to see it fail. Granted, it's still learning as i (thankfully) don't receive huge amounts of spa, but the bulk of the spam i recieve gets deleted. We're talking about 99% of the scanned mails. Sorry, but no commercial products for me (antispam, not the client).
Oh, and apparently the plugin was so popular that Ritlabs included it in the latest versions of TheBat!.

I really don't know why Gentoo should be the right choice. I do know that the more choice you have, the more different distros will compete with eachother in trying to make it 'the best' one for the job. Which results in a better product in the end, be it Gentoo or some other flavor.
It's not solely Americans that are responsible. For example, i get aLOT of german spam on my (german-based) webmail account. All for german companies.
And i fail to see how you get to the conclusion that banks are the primary source of spam. Unless they're sperm banks, ofcourse. That would also explain the 3n|a.rGe y.0ur p.e.n1S mails.
As long as people buy/sell things, there will be advertising, and thus, spam.
May i suggest you take a look at KeePass Store all your passwords in a single database that you can access with either one master-password, or combined with a key-disk that you have to insert first.
So no IK+, no Mission Elevator, no Blue Max, and no Ghostbusters, no Super Wonder Boy in Monster land. Why should i buy this one again? Oh yeah, and no Space Harrier or Chase HQ.
Compare what you said with buying/operating let's say a car. It drives and everything, but people still like to lock their car, and use airbags, all to improve security (for themselves and the car). Why not do the same with a computer? The fact that it only became a (big) issue recently shouldn't matter much.
Ah, so no manual reloading of the rifle. And this was the biggest issue in wether or not it was possible for anyone to fire 3 rounds in a couple of seconds, because it was a really horrible rifle to aim/fire/reload/aim/fire/reload/aim/fire with.
Experts tried to fire those 3 rounds with that horrible rifle. None of them was able to fire 3 rounds *and* aim within that short timeframe. And now a videogame that you control with a mouse/keyboard or joystick *can* prove that it was possible? What a joke. This is nothing more than a cheap game that tries to build on the conspiracy theories for publicity.

when was the last time you played a truly innovative sports game?
I don't know when exactly anymore, but the game was Caveman Uglympics!

Ah no, i just quoted a random fatality. It's been ages since i last played the game though, so i guess i was wrong. You got the idea though :P

My native language isn't english. But thanks for pointing it out to me in such a nice and friendly way.
While i could care less about w3c compliant, *if* you decide to put up a link to w3c, checking valid xml stuff, make sure it's actually valid ;)

I think Microsoft will investigate further before they take action on a store that had 1 customer with an illegal copy.
As for the no-OS part. Since it's sold without OS, the customer therefor doesn't have an invoice of WinXP and can't claim it.

Btw, brave comment to post
