A network is made up of hosts. Secure your hosts. If you have laptops come and go in your home.. secure your hosts.

The biggest threat to your 'network' is coming through that little dsl router (or whatever). The immensity and anonymity of the Internet is where you are exposed to every threat in the world. Not in the lobby of your building or your back yard. There is no comparison. Secure WiFi is just to give you that good feeling.

Wired or wireless, there's nothing I can do to stop my stepfather from clicking on every dodgey pop-up or installing every spyware ladden toolbar and plugin that presents itself to him. Sensible habits on the Internet are what's needed.

I have never used anti-virus software and never will. It makes you a lazy consumer instead of a participant on the Internet.

I saw this recently. It's good and worth seeing. I've seen too many versions including the original in theatres (when it came out via flickering candle light) to remember all the differences. As far as I can tell there is really just a few small scenes added and maybe some lighting/mood appears different. All with the exception of one small but key scene. Deckard has a dream in which he sees a unicorn. This gives more significance to the epiphany he has when he picks up the origami unicorn left by Gaff outside his door. This is conveying to him that he (Deckard) too is a replicant and that Gaff knows this. This idea has been discussed and I am told (haven't read it) is true in "Do Androids..". If anything it is worth seeing again on the big screen.

  5. Happened to me too on Bar Codes Keep Surgical Objects Outside Patients · · Score: 2, Interesting

Not quite the doctors wristwatch joke. I had an infection occuring in my gum one time and went to the dentist, who said an old root canal had become infected. After the x-ray, they told me I had a piece of a "file" in my tooth. I was confused at first. Aparently, when I had the root canal done, the dentist was filing the inside of my tooth and the tip of the file got stuck and then (he) broke off. So of course, he filled in the tooth, leaving the file bit inside and without telling me. Apparently also this is a common practice. I had to have oral surgery (cut in through the side wall of my gum) to remove the file (hence the reason the first "dentist" left it there).

    Yeah. I was pissed.

DO NOT SEND YOUR DNA TO ANYONE. It doesn't matter which NGO is behind this (although it's probably Rockefeller and the eugenics crowd), they only have one purpose in mind, and they are even going to trick YOU into volenteering and paying for it! Wow.

  9. Your Very Very Confused on Presidential Candidates and Online Privacy · · Score: 1

If google is snooping than YOU CAN CHOOSE another search engine. The FDA is the most corrupt agency of them all and if you think they are "protecting" consumers you are very sadly mistaken and need to do better research. That's the FDA brochure. The FDA serves big pharma and agro corps. Period.

Free speech & privacy does NOT mean google cannot snoop on your searches if it's in the TOS. It does mean the government cannot. Google is not a right nor a service that is provided by the government. You don't have to use them but if they are breaking the law you can prosecute them.

So the Constitution says quite a bit about Internet privacy if it's in the TOS. Don't rely on the government to 'gaurentee' your privacy. Choose who you do business with intelligently and responsibly and be an adult. Liberty assumes you are, governments assume you are not.
