You take the stairs up to the projector room and turn a switch (I think it was by the window facing the movie screen) and the movie starts playing, then the curtain opens. Shoot an RPG at the crack in the screen (or place a pipe bomb nearby) and you can jump behind the screen.
"make money off of selling the hardware for the first time."
It's a common misconception that game consoles always sell at a loss, mostly propogated by the amount of press Microsoft gave out about their X-Box business plan when that console was released. Fact is, Nintendo and Sony make money on the hardware.
Allowing homebrew games on a console would suck out a lot of the profit for the console producer, so it will probably never happen.
I think it's just that the people who used to game don't know where to look to find the new good games. We look back on gaming history and only remember the good games. There were just as many crappy games (Battletoads) then as there are now.
What is with myopic Slashdot posters forgetting that the majority of games sold are for consoles and not for PC? On one hand you mention that the PC games WalMart carries are for 4 year old PCs, but then you mention Grand Theft Auto which has sold way more copies for PS2/X-Box than it ever could for PC. Ridiculous.
The GP was saying that they would write new cartoons using the old pen-and-paper animation techniques. Since the writers that made Loonatics aren't as talented as the original Buggs Bunny creators, it only proves the GP's point that story is more important than graphics.

So if you're currently a Java rich client programmer, with no J2EE experience, how can you get a job as a Ruby coder (other than inventing a site to implement for yourself)?
In a way, by always working for the non-technical, you are forcing yourself into the top position as a technologist, which is translating raw ideas into software. Maybe that's why you like it so much.;-)
No, the moral is only people with common names like "Ben Jones" or "Jim Scott" will be able to get a job. Then the rest of us can sue for discrimination!
What about the fact that the government owns the educational system, influences the media, and is doing their level best to keep the population uninformed and ignorant?
Why are your forums always down, and why does it take until 2pm central time each day to get the image up for the comic?

"...I was thinking the best solution for Sony to capitalize on their losses"
What losses? PS2 is still the most profitable video game system.
"...release the PS2 as open-source or cheaply licensable and give others access to making new hardware, new software and new accessories."
Yeah, because the OSS version of the PS2 wouldn't compete with the PS3 and dig into their future profits. What the heck are you smoking?
"Imagine a gaming console that can be accessed by the millions of developers, programmers, amateurs and third parties that could make things better."
It's called a PC with a 3D graphics card. I'm sure I'll get modded into oblivion for standing up against an OSS viewpoint, however.
Go play Resident Evil 4.
Then tell me how today's games stink.

Raise your hand if you think people buy console games at WalMart.
Duh.

Apparently, running an S-Video cable from your computer to your TV is too complicated for you!

I can also record a regular phone conversation, but it's illegal to do so without notifying the other party.
I'm an American, and I love being tied to monthly contracts!

How about we investigate the effect our crappy government and paying taxes has on our citizens?
I just can't wait for the ico.us bubble burst of 2012!

Oh, I don't know, I think that there were a couple of FPS games that were successful because of compelling story.
...maybe because the other titles in the library are crap?
So, the phone company will by default always be cheaper. Great business model, AOL!
Fuck the "Slow Down Cowboy!" message.
