Nuclear isn't obscure in France, they cover the vast majority of their electricity use with nuclear power.
Also mass transit cannot carry goods? What about freight trains? Freight planes? Freight ships? Sure, freight buses don't make sense but trucks are pretty much buses for freight.
If the oil is so low that it has to be allocated you can be sure that freight transport will get more of it than personal use. The farmer's truck can't be replaced but those tons of SUVs driven only to work and back can.
The costs can differ depending on the overhead (and somehow the US medical system seems to have a shitload more overhead than European public systems). Either way, if the company buying the policy just wanted something cheap and dirty they'd probably get something like that from a private insurance too, if they want a certain quality they'll pick the cheapest option that fulfills that requirement.
Emergency care is emergency care, from what I read the US hospitals already provide that to anybody. However the illegal immigrants wouldn't be able to be a greater burden with public healthcare than currently because they would still not be able to show any ID for the "optional" stuff. I think it's increasing costs, not costs staying the same that people are worried about.
I don't know about the proposed system but I live in a country with a socialized health system and you have to hand your insurance card to the desk worker before you go to the doc, insurance may be there for everybody but you are still individually registered as an insured person and an illegal immigrant would have to register himself with some insurance provider, too. That registration obviously requires an ID and illegal immigrants SHOULD not have valid IDs (they may have counterfeit ones but I don't think many of them do, most immigrants didn't exactly have a good plan when they entered). Without an insurance card the insurance won't cover your expenses and with mandatory insurance the lack of a card would raise an eyebrow. I don't think you'd get more than what you can currently get without being able to pay money.
But you do have the right to sue the doctor for nonsense, forcing him to charge more to cover his expenses and thus driving up the treatment costs for everybody.
FPSes work fairly well on the Wii, it's leagues better than the old super market trolley analog stick aiming you get on the HD consoles and I find it baffling how many FPSes those systems get considering they control like an arse full of bricks.
They include the division income and expenses in their financial reports, apparently Sony made a net loss on their gaming division overall as the losses of the PS3 generation have already lost more money than the division made during the PS1 and 2 generations. The XBox division isn't even close to breaking even overall but I guess they can at least show black yearly numbers now.
I was initially skeptical of the rail-shooter concept, but half an hour's play was enough to convince me.
The game's problem was probably that most people were skeptical but only a few overcame that. Someone who only saw the box in stores or articles on the net doesn't have that half an hour of play to judge the game on.
1. RE4 is on the Gamecube, PS2, Wii and PC. Only the PC can output it above SD resolution 2. The PC port looks like ARSE, tons of effects are missing including basic lighting. Higher resolution doesn't make up for that. 3. The Wii version has all the content (the PS2 version got extra stuff the GC didn't have), the full graphics (full GC level) and the best controls (possibly tied with the PC but still better than any other console version). Thus it is the definitive version.
I consider the 5 grand investment as money well spent, especially since I'm all set for the Wii2 that's coming out next fall.
Don't get your hopes up, that's a lie perpetuated by people who want to see the Wii fail by making people stop buying it because a new one is "just around the corner".
It's kinda funny how analysts keep making up shit about an HD Wii while noone ever asks when Natal is supposed to come out. It's just about populating people's minds with the idea that the Wii is soon obsolete, no matter how true that is.
I heard the DS can connect to those T-Online Hotspots for free (never tried it) so it wouldn't be the first time they offered free network access (but to local WLANs instead of nationwide cellphone networks) with a system either.
I believe the logic is that by preventing them from monetizing bycatch there is no incentive to "accidentally" grab some huge bycatch. Wouldn't want people to "accidentally" grab a whole bunch of dolphins for some dolphin meat black market or whatnot.
Last I checked rabbit meat was also pretty common. Cats and dogs not so much (I heard some people eat wild cats in Australia and dogs make decent emergency rations during wartime). Generally an animal intended for slaughter and one held as a pet/work animal are fed differently.
They probably do because customers would be way more likely to shop at Steam if it offered cheaper prices right away and more sales would more than make up for the slightly lower profit per sale.
I find store purchases more convenient most of the time, they're faster and retailers tend to discount stock or simply have better deals (I've seen plenty of Steam specials for games that could be had for a tenner off the Pyramid, the Steam discounted version actually cost more in many cases). Reinstalling from a DVD is orders of magnitude faster than redownloading a 9GB game you deleted. You can get the Steam overlay in any game just by linking the executable in your Steam game list BTW.
A specialized store will probably have it, or at the very least know immediately where to get it within 2 days. A big store using computers as a sideline, additional income will only offer you what's mainstream and most of the time won't bother with special orders at all.
Maybe for computer components but not for videogame consoles. The specialized stores (GameStop) have their local stock and that's it, if they run out you'll have to wait for the next regular shipment and if there won't be one, hey, we've got some used games you might want instead?
It's also kind of pathetic that you didn't just open the configfile and change it back instead of reinstalling the whole system.
Er, seriously? I mean, I've wrangled with X configs a lot back then too but do you seriously think the average user knows what a configfile is, where it is and what to do with it? We're talking about people who don't know how a computer works internally and don't want to know because the computer should make it easy for them to use it without that knowledge.

"Free" here meaning "you'll get a huge bill afterwards but if you can dodge that, have fun".

Over here the truck driver has to pay that, did they fail to catch him or what?

But... why the hell is it called "eggs"? Is this thing run by Dr. Robotnik?
He's just trying to accelerate the growth of the cobblestones!

And hell, even if it does happen how about simply adding a scroll bar?
What about having a projector that only runs at 640x480? You'd actually want the screen to be at that res for a while and later switch back.

It isn't really effective security if it bugs the user so much that he'll reflexively click on permit.
