I remeber when i had to use a boot disk when i had Win98se. First you started up and nothing but a blinking cursor showed up, and you wonder if somethig went wrong. Then it would say Windows is starting up, 3 years later it would ask you if you wanted to install CD-ROM support, if you did you would have to spend another lifetime at a black screen.
Oh wait this is/. EVERYTHING has to do with open source and its ability to cure cancer and feed the hungry. Thats why people donate money to disgruteteld programers instead of the hungery. Its a trickle down effect..

Actually if you notice the same applys to electric tooth brush heads. Lets say you but the Super CrossAction brush for $7, with a replacable head. The Super Dupper CrossAction Plus heads cost $9 for a pack of 2. The more expensive heads will fit on the less expensive motor. So theres no need to buy the more expensive motor.
transmit the WAN signal the same way they do the power. Either thought the rails or a over head wire. Then connect the wire to WiFi routers within the train.
This might possibly play out the same way the widespread use of cell phones did. If you have a cell phone you are expected to be reachable and therefore maybe called upon more often "just incase". Once everyone gets a cell phone everyone is called upon more often. Now if the company knows you have Internet access on the train and notice an increase in your productivity. Do you think they may expect more of you?
it just has to be set up. Cisco routers can be upgraded remotely. Just as long as there is some sort of connectivity between the ATM and the banks systems then a program can be written to enable remote administration.
They should of hired a team of programmers and researchers to design a OS specifically talored to the task of a ATM. Then sold it to other banks at half the cost of Windows.
Unless its for a class about Linux, or your plan on teaching the kids Linux its best to stick with Mac for elemantary students and Windows for secondary ones. One problem Linux does have is that its written fro geeks by geeks and although some Microsoft programs are buggy and what not the reason they cost $ is because MS researches the best way to buid a interface. If you sit a kid in from of a Linux workstation and expect him to know how to use it then your wrong

"I see you have mark a point on your radar. Would you like me to set it as a default attack point?"
"I see you have used this ATM before. Would you like me to remember your PIN so you won't have to enter it again?"

Why isn't a propriatary system good for a single use device. its like putting Linux on watches.
because standerd phone services is a lot easier to regulate then VoIP.
