Lets hope their letter is already correctly tagged "-1 Troll" in EU parliament. Actually BSA has positive side-effect in Europe. Many people, like me, entered politics thanks to assholes like them. I joined Green Party to fight this scum and actually find out that IT-aware "departments" of political parties are quite small, so few informed people can influence not only party politics but also government (if/when that party is in government). Look at German greens, there popularity is skyrocketing. I bet quite few percent are young people pissed by Internet and free SW restricting lobbyist groups. Especially BSA.

I think recently announced Google Chrome - gaming platform is big oportunity for Linux, because it is platform-independant (as long as you have Chrome/Firefox browser or "native client" plugin). Idea is this: everyone has Chrome, native code can be run _Safely_ using "Native Plugin". Given that all problems with DirectX/Windows version and installing/uninstalling games are going away with (almost?) no performance penalty, this really sounds good, even for Windows gamers, let alone Linux or Mac.

There is fundamental cultural difference in way people are installing apps on both platforms. I am taking here Ubuntu as representative for Unix/Linux world, because it is. And thats Windows. Seriously, why such news are not written correctly: "Online Banking Trojan Stole Money From Windows Users In Belgium". Journalists usually mention that OS like Linux or OSX cannot run many programs, like games, made exclusively for Windows. So, following same logic, in this case they should mention every single time, "this trojan is working on Windows only. If you are using any flavour of Linux or OSX, problem is not related with your computer."

Today, you get close to "feeling" of Amiga programming only if you make shader programs.

I guess we will also in 100 years or so realize that we emit nothing but noise, and short distance one for that matter (Wi-Fi, some future gen). So, if we want to be visible to potential neighbors, we must establish "pulsing station", which emits something intelligent and easily detectable, like prime numbers. But it is unlikely it will be old fashioned radio signal. It is probably hard to detect from such distances because it is destroyed by objects on its way (stars, galaxies, small objects, gas, whatever). Maybe neutrinos, such pulse could pass trough everything on its way, and maybe there is way to pickup that broadcast somehow on the other side (if there is, they will know how). So, maybe it is just to early for this sort of projects, there is homework on inter-galactic broadcast to do, and one that actually make sense, not analog TV.
