Anytime I see a slashdot headline saying some country is taking a litigious action against some website or service, a disproportinate number of times that country has been france.
Perhaps france would like to bow out of the internet thing altogether?
Who knows, if they did, perhaps no one would miss them? I'm not sure, but I can't remember the last thing I read about that put france in a good light.
(okay, there was that whole statue of liberty thing, but I don't think many others remember that. And it was just to piss off someone else anyway.)
Anyone got a list of all the IP's in france? I think I could add them to my RBL without feeling a even the slightest twinge from the bookkeeping thingy I use as a conscience.
thanks. I was sure those icons were useful for something, but never got around to checking them out. Just updated everything, took less than 2 minutes, and everything appears to be well.
Actually, I can remember several jobs I had 10 or more years ago, and yeah, there were a whole lot of "users" using dumb unix terminals to do thier day to day jobs.
Going back even further, I can remember some of the fun I had helping train people on this "new windows thingy". They liked thier command line and keyboard shortcuts much better.
One lady I worked with eventually took her early retirement because it was just too much trouble to learn that "new windows stuff". It didn't work as fast, and it kept crashing and losing her information (never could get her to save regularly).
So, we have come full circle now, with everyone thinking it's too hard to use unix.
Yeah, you have to wonder how all the other people knighted over the years feel about being lumped in with a criminal. Admittably one of the best there has ever been, but a criminal none the less.
If they go through with this, I will finally have all the proof I need that there are no morals left in upper society.
Took a while to happen, but this would be... well, sick.
I have a lot of free time on my hands this week, and part of what I've been doing with it is house cleaning.
And Slashdot.
I have been following links to this mod and that mod all week long, and I come to the conclusion that there is something completely and significantly wrong with all these pictures I've been looking at.
Without exception, every living room/kitchen/garage has been neat. orderly, and perfectly free of clutter.
To get rid of the splash screen, replace the Video_ts.bup and Video_ts.ifo with the like named files from any other dvd (be very careful not to change any of the other files!). These are the splash screen files.
I am currently expermenting with creating a custom splash screen in Sonic's Scenarist, but haven't had time to play with it lately.
I have problems with my countries current trends for a different reason entirely.
I'm not all that up on my history, so I could be wrong on this, but to the best of my knowledge, none of those countries were ever a free democratic country.
The only thing worse than not having something good is to have the best there is and have it taken away from you. For your own safety, of course.
Actualy, I think a partial summary judgement against SCO would effectivly end the case. Their financial situation would appear to be sliding downhill fast, and such a judgement would probably dry up the rest.
No one wants to invest in or support something that really IS dying.
One could hope, anyway.
Can't remember who said it, and don't know or care which camp it falls into, but I think the simpilest belief works for me:
I don't care who is cranking the universe, I'm just glad they don't stop.

After all, that little fucker is only borrowing it for a year or two, it's mine the rest of the time.

Just a thought.

The tellers at my bank would disagree with you.
Just imagine what might have happened if you had went to a three star facility. sacmog.

personally, I have a long list of better off, and at least three of them hold a nice cushy job I could possibly get.
yeah for reducing the workforce applicants on a local basis.
Because, at least for me. BT will never mean BlueTooth. It's BitTorrent.
Have I slipped a universe somewhere? sacmog.
you haven't seen my hard drive, if your're serious about that offer.

And that ain't right.
It can't be real.
Been sort of hoping it would be implemented on the scale I read about before my lifetime expires.
I have some interesting plans for it.
What if the lawyers stay for the $31M, then quit. Why go to trial? They don't have to.
What are the odds that SCO would get some kind of mis-trial and we would have to set through all of this again.
I don't think this limit is a good option. But if I were the SCO Lawyers, I'd ask for the money up front. It might not be there later.

That scares me more than anything else.
Thank you Mr. Coward. That may be one of the funniest things ever. I know just who to send it to.
Hey, I have two ARM's and they don't suck at all. Maybe if they did I wouldn't need the .....
Never mind. Wrong topic.
(Had to be said).

And your point would be?
Upon second though, I think it was said by Manuel in "The Moon is a Harsh Mistress". Feel free to correct me. (sacmog)
