I can't wait for the press release that reads: It all started when a guy in the legal department started having traumatic flashbacks to a Vietnam movie he watched in 1991. This may or may not have had something to do with the half pound of red leb he'd been smoking while watching 'cos he was still at law school at the time. The resulting hysteria was like, infectious, and spread to the management, and like, before anyone realised what was happening we'd turned charlie into evil commie open source developers that had to be wiped out at any cost.

Personally, I can't wait for the press release that says:

I was writing legal briefs on my Linux box, and it was like, 'beep beep beep beep', and then, like, half of my brief was gone.

    And I was like, 'uunh?'

It devoured my brief. It was a really good brief. And then I had to write it again and I had to do it fast so it wasn't as good.

    It's kind of...

    ...a bummer.

I submitted this same story(probobly rejected, unless it comes up as a dupe), and I read some other press reports. Apparently, the problem is that minorities that are hired by the DOJ leave at a higher rate than whites, and that women also leave at a higher rate than men(though not as much as minorities). This would indicate that there is a cultural problem in the DOJ and it is hindering them, especially in serving minority communities. Please understand that no one is suggesting that qualified white males should not be hired or that minorities be given a preference - just that the DOJ seek to retain those that they do hire, and fix whatever is pushing them away.

I caught the tail end of that Bill O'Reiley interview - probobly the worst I have ever heard on NPR. While I admit I don't watch Bill O'Reiley's show, in that interview he came across as literally the rudest person I have ever heard on public radio. Or radio in general, for that matter. Rush L. and other 'political commentators' say some rather nasty things about their opponents, but they seem to behave like adults. O'Reiley's behavior on that show was so childish that I couldn't believe it. I looked up his show on FoxNews.com, and he seems to run the kind of shouting match talkshow that the NPR interview degenerated into. Overall, not a very good impression.

"We want actors with more screen presence", said one spokesman "and stars like Ben Affleck or J. Lo should fit right in with the gritty, dark feel of the series. We also felt that Ice Cube will be more 'gangsta-like' as Morpheus than that Laurence guy. I mean, who gives a leading part to a guy named Fishburn?" I am not sure whether or not the Saturn Vs were more or less safer than the SRBs on the Shuttle. However, I should point out that the fact that a Saturn V never had a catastrophic failure should not be taken to mean that they are thus safe.

According to this site, there were 32 Saturn launches(15 of them Saturn Vs). Out of that number, there was one non-critical rocket failure on Apollo 6(Saturn V), and two accidents unrelated to the rocket (Apollo 1 & 13). Compare that to the shuttle, which had 107 launches, and 1 critical rocket failure. Since Saturn Vs had only 15 launches, it's not really fair to say they were "safer" than Shuttles - the statistical margin of error could easily account for 1 or 2 failures if you extrapolate from 15 to 107.
