    That is true. I don't disagree with you that spikes in radon do NOT always precede an earthquake.
    It is also true that if the Government had taken the warnings seriously, it would have evacuated wrong towns and people, resulting in more deaths.
    BUT, what the Government could have done after the earthquake is to co-opt this guy provide him resources and a team so that his predictions are more accurate.
    Unfortunately, the Government took the only option it usually takes: suppress the truth-sayers so that its incompetence is covered.

    Why would they hire a physicist who dabbles in earthquake detection when they've got seismologists who do this full-time around, who know that radon levels are not an accurate predictor of earthquakes?

    Because the many many seismologists who are paid to do their jobs obviously did not.

    The earthquake science community looked at it and dismissed it decades ago as insufficiently reliable--some earthquakes aren't preceded by a spike in radon levels, and some spikes aren't followed by an earthquake,/quote> ...yeah, right, because all, these reports are obviously written by sci-fi writers

    What you say is logical.
    But this is politics.
    The AG could have continued to tie up Mr.Tube in courts for a long time, just like the IRS did telecoms for 28 long years.
    The way it was handled smacks of something bigger.
    Same way the forced resignation of Eliot Spitzer and subsequent fraud at AIG/BofA/Citi, etc.
    Now that Eliot Spitzer has NOT been charged by FBI, why don't Democrats or Republicans want him back as NYC mayor?
    After all the same Dems and Palin want Tube Stevens back...
    Call me Ismael, but i think this is a symptom of a larger picture

    Can't his AG prove ANYTHING against Ted "Tube" Stevens?
    Pardon me, but i don't think Obama is the True Messiah that you jokers claim him to be..
    After all, he has immunity from wiretapping, while claiming during campaigning that he was against it
    Am sure a deal was struck between the administration and Stevens, after all Mr.Tube has immense connections and Obama needs to deflect Palin from running against him in 2012...
    Of course you Obama supporters will crown me with a tin hat foil, but prove me wrong if Ted Stevens becomes cooler against Palin while warming up against Obama...

    Yes, and if this were a logical Government, it would by now have apologized to him, hired him to improve his predictions, given him & his team some good money to come up with a more accurate system for predicting earthquakes.
    However, we have been conditioned by denials and call 911 to order pizzas for so long that we accuse him of predicting it wrong and then sentence him. ...and we have the guts to say that Old World Europe was barbaric when it burned Galelio and crucifixed Jesus...

    Nope.
    You are talking about the Government man. The Big Boys.
    Politicians and Governments don't apologize: EVER.
    In fact i would not be surprised if the Government now charged him with involuntary slaughter for NOT bringing the early warning notice to the Government's attention.
    Yes, i know this is completelty asinine, and the logic in it will assplode your head, but that is how Governments' react when faced with potential truth and the fact that they were wrong.
    In fact, if this guy were in USA, he would be investigated by the Secret Service, FBI and local OSHA branch for various violations:
    a) Violating the state secrets act, which was applied retroactively to panic warnings.
    b) Professional misconduct by not following "rules" and "procedure" to warn the Government through proper channels and instead opting for creating sensations on a public media unauthorisedly and illegally.
    c) Creating panic with a view to spreading eco-terrorism (this one is from the local council and county)
    d) Civil Disobedience of not obeying government rules governing state employees.
    e) Spreading falsehoods (completely discounting the fact that he was right), with a view to creating panic in public and war-profiteering.
    f) Declared "person of interest" by the FBI and the local Sherriff for "causing" earthquakes by predicting them.

    Hell, if i were District Attorney, i would make more charges against this professor than this list, and make them stick.
    And i would plead with the judge to send him to prison for 10 years at least.

    After all, if i fail AND i apologize to this professor, the Governer and Mayor is liable to be sued for deliberate manslaughter and be forced to resign...Is that what the people want at this hour of agony???

    Easy way is to shut this guy down completely. (Just like they sued and sentenced the college boy who outbid oil companies in Utah).

    The Parent is correct.
    Get an excellent lawyer and explain to him in simple terms.
    File a counter-suit and an injunction and a gag order on both suits.
    Next, have copyright proofs of every image they accuse you of violation.
    Get ask the judge to dismiss the suit with prejudice.
    Pursue your suit citing to the jury that the company in question "deliberately" filed a suit with a view to extortion.
    This deliberately clause is important, else those fcukers will escape under "sorry" clause.
    Stick the deliberately clause, make it stick.
    Now, ask the judge to award punitive damages for mental harassment and money lost wasting your time, plus lawyers fees.
    Do NOT let them go with an apology: A corporation has no shame, no feelings and no moral sense. Its just money.

    Wasn't TCP/IP suite made JUST for handling the Ultimate War?
    I mean after all the greatest (and probably the only) strength of IP is automatic re-routing in case of disruptions.
    So, an attack against even 80% of our TCP/IP-based internet would still result in the rest of 20% routers taking the traffic and still deliver...
    This is a clear case of Government spying on us.
    And i thought Obama was a nice man...

    Wake up Admins and torrent seeders!
    You WILL face traffic shaping.
    You WILL be prevented from using torrents.
    You WILL be allowed to use only a limited bandwidth.
    Yes, the business environment is changing because business is adapting to your abuse of bandwidth.
    To those who may cry that bandwidth is free, fcuk you. Its NOT free.
    It costs money to maintain dark or lit fibres, routers, a/c, salaries of janitors to VPs.
    All to enable you to feed unlimited meals???
    Oh come on!
    The era of eat-all-you-can ended in 1950s when eateries got smarter.

    Practically also its true.
    Anyone committing a crime is a criminal.
    No one can assault his in-laws and then claim his corporate policy made him do it.
    Acting on behalf of someone is not a license to commit crimes and escape responsibility.
    Contract Law states that when an Agent acts ultra-vires of his Licensor, then the Agent is individually responsible for such acts.
    Jail the criminal, and convict him.
    Period.
    Unfortunately none of our lawmakers would allow such a thing to happen: especially Republicans like Orrin Hatch and Ted Tube Stevens (he's out).
    Because our lawmakers get "benefits" from corporate lobbyists and go to work there after their terms...
    Symbiotic relationship.
