Labeled, yes, avoiding it, no. I do eat things because I like them, not oit of principle. If it tastes goos, I eat ot. If it does not, I don't. Just like any other food.
This thing is that you are trying to repair a system that is broken by design. It is like buying a sieve and then trying to turn it into a bucket by closing the holes one by one.
The problem is that users already pay for the reception of the SMS. This dues to the fact that cellphone numbers are "normal" numbers, where in e.g. Europe, these are "special" numbers. That means that the caller will have to pay. The same goes for sending an SMS. The person who sends the message will have to pay. (regardless if they are in your plan and you will not notice the price. You pay and the receoiver does not pay)
There are ways to charge the sender extra. e.g, to pay your bus ticket or any other reason. These will be special shortened 4 digit numbers. Some are free, where the receiver agreed to pay for the sending, so you do not have to pay. Basically like a 0800 number, but for SMS. Others you pay. Prices differ, depending on what you buy.
Then there are the ones where you can ask to send a message each day to tell you the weather. Those will cost money.
It is very easy to block any or all of them. Most phoneproviders will have an option where you can block and activate several things.
e.g. I can blck roaming for calls, but not SMS and no paid SMS at all (Not possible to buy a bussticket either) or just no paid incoming SMSes. I personally have blocked several things, but not everything.
So it is the enduser that decides what to block.
The downside is that these services are outsources. So when I wanted to block the (Free) messages from Domino's, I also blocked the number that send the 6 digits to do my bank transaction. This because the compony used the same sending number to save costs. Took a bit to sort it out, as blocking was done with the company sending them and not with my provider.
Another usage is that parents block paying numbers for their kids. Both phone and SMS.
Sorted now. I get the bank SMS and not the "pizza" sms. Not sure if they have moved them over to a new number or if they adapted their database to be able to block a single company.
So yes, blocking is very real and active in Europe. The decision is with the enduser, where it should be. And all this because it started with the fact that the sender/caller must pay as the receiver will have no influence if he is contacted or not.
When I was in the US, I saw all these pick ups and thought "These people must all be under way to pick something up and do that on sucha regular basis that requires such a vehicle." And why under way to pick something up? Because most where empty.
When I owned a car and needed to pick something up that was larger than my vehicle could cary, I justed rented a car. Happend twice in 7 years.
Because, be real, the majority of the pickups is for show, now for actually picking up things.
And even then I suppose a van would be much better, as the loading is done much lower, so not as much lifting and all the goods are dry all the time.
Ask the UK people if these cars are able to drive fast when they are white.
They used to push things I wanted to see. Now they are good un thing I already saw, channels I already follow an utter crap tey want to push, because 1MM others already looked at it, because it was pushed..
I now watch the chanels I am suscribed to and now they started with "availavle in 6 hours, so I miss even those".
Do they rent the parashutes, or are they complementary? Because getting them back after you threw out the customer where he wants to be might be the difficult part.
And fo these short trips, landing far away from where you need to be is an issue.
We used that a lot in the office where I worked then. It was a great addition to other ways of communication. Not as official as an email. Not as urgent as a phone call. Not as intrusive as walking up to a desk.
No mic or webcam needed. If you needed a mic, you phoned. If you needed a webcam, you walked to the desk.
Great for short questions. e.g. "Have you done a reset on server XYZ today?" By not doing it via email, nobody would get hurt of the answer was "Darn, overslept. WIll do it now. Sorry."
Depending on what was said, you could always follow up via email, just like you would with a phonecall. "As confirmed by our conversation earlier with Mr. B., the server reset has been performed." And that you send to N+1 and others.
The reason they don these kind of things is not to play chess, but to calibrate and test the system. The games are complex enough, yet with a very simple outcome. Win, loose, draw.
With other things, the outcome will not be so clear, e.g. stockmarket. It could make 5 times as much money as the average, yet you have no idea if that is the absolute maximum, or if better nummers where possible. Even if you look afterwards what the theoretical maximum could have been, one sale could have had an influence on some other stock and could have ment a higher profit.
This is just a testing enviroment (with marketing attached to it).
Do you live in the greatest nation in the world? Do you even HAVE the number 911? Probably a much lower number, like 112. USA! USA! USA! (Waidaminute, I'm not even Merickan.)
I never knew there was a debate and I understand the difference to a discussion. So the real news here was that there was a debate. No, he just said: i do it. He never listend to anybody and showed the world that in the US you can buy anything and anybody.
Plenty of cars are produced that ate an older generation. The old beetle was produced till 2003. They will even do some improvements. Just not a complete new model. So we are good for another 20 years or so.
Labeled, yes, avoiding it, no. I do eat things because I like them, not oit of principle. If it tastes goos, I eat ot. If it does not, I don't. Just like any other food.
Ergo: Terrorists are like tulips.
Sneaky Dutch basterds!

Welcome to Europe where the sender pays, kunless specified differently. Those come from special numbers and thus easily blocked.
I can easily block individual numbers, as ther must send how to do this. Normally "stop xxxxx" to a number and xxxxx is the name of the company.
Also easy to atop whole series and not be able to e.g. pay for services or receive any number that you pay for.
HACK TEH PLANET!
"'It is us Teh Chinamen' Probably left there by the US, so people think it was the Russians" -- The Israelis.
Sounds a lot like " She was asking for it by wearing that short skirt."
So the autenticator app that is on my phone is good, but the sms that is on my phone is not good?
So cute that US politics always thinks that there are only two sides in political issues. Rome is proud of you. Athens less so.
You are mixing m and m^2 (and m^3)

They have absolutely no problem with it. They asked themselves: "Do we want this to be something we have in our product" The answer was no.
Well, only a problem between Europe, Asia and the USofA. At least Australia will be safe, right? Right?

I will tell you if it is porn. Just show it to me--everybody
I get off on tthe naked women painted by cavemen. Porn in its purest form.
I never knew there was a debate and I understand the difference to a discussion. So the real news here was that there was a debate.

Let Darwin take care of it. In just a few hundred generations, we will be able to sense the arrival of a car.
