  1. Mute: I do not think that word means that you think it means.

  2. The fact that this needs to be discussed is an issue of and by itself. It should be obvious that it should not be allowed.

  3. Burn it with fire. It is the only way to be sure.

  4. Like a car lease? So leasing a car is American? Because you do not own the car. Sure, you could buy it later, but at the moment, the car is not yours.
And I am not saying that like bank payments of your house. There you own the house, but you owe the bank money, not the house. Yes, they might be able to take the house and put it in their name.
With a lease, the car does not belong to you. With a loan, it would belong to you.

They do not only set the price. They also decide IF they are willing to sell. e.g. if I have something, it does not mean I am willing to sell it or even to sell it to you.

e.g. I can have something that is in the family and I will be unwilling to sell it, no matter what the price is. I have seen companies that are unwilling to sell themselves to a specific company, no matter what the price was.

It is something that is often forgotten. Just because something exists and is easy to make, replicate or copy, does not mean I MUST put it on the market.
Tesla had a deathray he was unwilling to sell. Many companies are unwilling to sell (they rather rent out)

A sales is a contract between two people that BOTH parties need to agree upon. BOTH parties can thus refuse (within specific terms. e.g. no racism, see your local law for more info about exceptions)

I seldom see this part of the argument as people claim they somehow have a right to see a TV show, or movie be able to buy a music album or read a book, just because it (or copies of it) exist.

Sounds like an issue with the charger if it still charges the battery, not so much the battery itself. There are plenty of batteries that are connected to a charger 24/7, yet they do not explode.
And by that I mean the charger was designed to do that, not that it are phones.

What are Highway speeds? Probably you are talking about the maximum speed. What you need to look at is the minimal speed allowed (if there is any where you live)

Say you live in a country where the maximum speed is 130 KMH. That does not mean you HAVE to drive that fast. Could be that the minimal speed is 80 KMH. So if you drive 90 KMH, you are fast enough. (Yes, I am aware of hills.)

If a doctor writes out too many non-generic medicine, an investigation will follow. That would mean at first a reminder as to why and if it does not improve, it cpould mean losing his license over it.

At the pharmacy they can even propose an alternative. However for them it might be different in that THEIR profit might be higher for a generic drug than for a named one. So even if the sotal amount is lerss, their profit could be more.

get ready for the Chinese-made home appliances that have American brand names

The thing is that quality id often so overpriced that lower quality is well worth it.

e.g. if I buy a 10 USD wrench from a no-brand name as a home-user that I use perhaps 2 times per year and that I have to replace after 5 years, would it be wise for me to buy a 50 USD one that I buy only once (I hope).

It used to be that quality was about twice as expensive as low quality. At that moment buying quality is a no brainer. When the prices differnce becomes 5 times, cheaper becomes a better alternative.

Looking at that wrench, the home user will start buying cheaper stuff that is 'good enough'. That means that the high quality stuff is sold in lower quantities. This increases the price. So now even the hobbyist are looking for cheaper alternatives.
    That means even higher prices.

The thing with tools what I have learned is (as you where talking about Craftsman) is to buy cheap and replace with expensive. This means that you will buy a lot of cheap tools and some expemsive ones. You will pay less and Craftsman wil have less revenue and thus less profit.

And quality tools are still available. They might just not be US made, but EU made. Even some Vietnamese or South African made stuff is not bad at all.
