  3. What's the piont? on Robot Pets Almost as Good as Real Ones? · · Score: 1

Yes. We can eventually make a robotic pet that would be just as good as the real thing. Of course if we do this we'll still have a zillion homeless cats and dogs. Isn't it chaper and easier to give a person one of these zillion cats and dogs than start up a robotics program?

The other side of that is that having a successful show doesn't mean it's a good one either. Battlestar is good if your into people whinning for 45 min and then a quick glimpse of some cgi robots for the last 15. FireFly kicks its butt in every way, shape, and form.

I saw an add once where there was a car made of megablocks. I think it was Toyota or something and it had 'Trademark of Megabloks' which I though was funny because anyone who looked at the add would first think Lego. Megabloks doesn't come to your mind when you seen the thing and it's not like you can tell from a non close up picture what kind of blocks they are.

  8. Who could tell if the person even took the class. on Online vs. Traditional Degrees? · · Score: 1

I have a friend who has this plan just to pay someone else to take online courses for a degree. He also said his uncle used to pay people to write papers for him. Kinda annoys me as I worked really hard to get my education. I think even an online class should have some sort of test at the end where you have to show up with a photo id.

  9. You're creating criminals on Unsecured Wi-Fi to Become Illegal? · · Score: 1

Most people who buy these wireless routers don't know that they're leaving them unprotected. This basically creates a class of criminals, where none existed before, who don't know they're violating the law. There is no way you should be charged with this previously perfectly legal actvity with out being given a warning notice, and that's on an individual basis, not some 1 inch statement on page 43 of the local paper. Can you imagine all of our parents suddeny being fined the next day after this goes into effect?

  10. Re:evolution is a FACT on Is The U.S. Becoming Anti-Science? · · Score: 1

"mutations are random" Evoloution is not really "random". Basically in a given time period a whole bunch of variation will occur and the most fit will thrive. You don't even have to be unfit in the environment, you just have to not be not as fit as the dominant. Thus, while the mechanism of mutaion is "random", the "winner" is at least in part, dictated by the environment. I don't get why the 'God' people can't just sate themselves with the belief that evoloution is how God planned it. Isn't it more elegant that way? Kinda makes the idea of 'God's Plan' make a little more sense. Can't you believe in a God who created a universe and not some book that a guy in the desert, who by the way thought the world was flat, wrote 2000 years ago?

You'll notice they won't say we weren't willing to pay him x-dollars per hour because then they would look like the jerks.
