  1. Re:Playstation games on Xbox on X Box To Be Dreamcast-Compatible - Updated · · Score: 1

but according to the article the dreamcast won't actualle be emulated...they should put the chip inside. Which makes the denial from Microsoft interesting: they're basically saying that the only graphics hardware will be nVidia. What they're not saying is that the Xbox won't have Dreamcast compatibility. So maybe emulation is the way the're gonna go.

Exactly. Which is why I always felt that the US cannot really be called a true democracy. The only people that can get elected are from the two parties.

Basically, corporations are in control: the one they give the most funding to will probably get elected.

It's really annoying to see all those people on /. who diss JK without even reading his articles: you know you don't have to read them if you don't want them. And if you need to make a comment, make it something worth reading, not just a bunch of whining.

    Ok that'll be -1 Flamebate

It seems to me that the content companies would like to see books, music, movies as both a medium and content, depending on what suits them best. When I buy a book/cd, and I want to sell it to my friend, then it should be content, and I'd be cutting into the creator's pockets. However, when they release I movie I own on VHS on DVD, then it is a medium, and though I own the content, I should pay again for the medium. B$ i say.

  7. Re:Eep... Even I worry about this... on 3Dfx No More -- NVidia Purchases Video Card Maker · · Score: 1

Well there's always ATI. Also, I'm pretty sure that ATI recently purchased the company that's puting the graphics cards in the Ninendo Gamecube (ArtX). I think if Gamecube is a success, and ATI manages to keep some OEM support, then we'll still see some competition to nVidia's domination to the market. Anyway, I don't think this is as bas as you make it seem. 3Dfx hasn't really put out a quality product since the Voodoo2 SLI to worry nVidia. So slashdot readers, buy a GameCube!! It'll probably be worth it just for Zelda neway.

Also Square might be making Xbox games. The next Oddysee game will also be out for Xbox.

I know it sucks, but the Xbox looks like it might steal the show. That will probably mean developers will use DirectX more and more, and OpenGL less and less.

And, if you listen to people like Peter Molyneux speak, it sounds very likely that developer support for the pc will be less and less.
