I hope this really works out well. Not only will it start a rise of interest in this kind of service but will personally benefit me. I frequent that area but do not live there. It just opens up the doors for all kinds of stuff good and bad.
I am not trolling .
I think the Linux community will be very difficult to adapt standards because the thinking is very individualistic. If we don't like something then we will make our own and by golly no one should tell me what to do.
I think developing a distro so that things are as easy to do in windows yet secure is close to impossible. Not one likes change. Especially users that are not very tech savvy. They would have to grow to understand a technology that they would rather just use. It is also very difficult for developers to get in the heads of non tech end users to develop a product they can comprehend. It is a constant challenge to speak in layman's terms to end users on how to use a windows product. Even harder to develop something for a new platform where every command and action is new.
I am not against attempting these standards. I just have a doubtful feeling about it. I hope I am wrong and we can see Linux spread to the corporate and home users desktop soon.
I am going to step right up and admitt that I do have a problem with the visual medium itself. I try not to but I get really disappointed every time I see a movie version of a book. Movies are much more limited in many details of a story.
I may take the advise of the parent poster above and not watch the movie for HHGG. I think I would watch it just to complain about the conversion.

And using AIM is also "likely not something that's permitted outside of your home".
I would come unglued if it was running on any of my systems.
I was unable to RTA due to the server being slashdoted at a record rate.
I found his comment about viewing movies while working are probably true.
All I have to say is "Lan Party."
Games consoles will never have people stringing Cat5 across living rooms to stuff 15 geeks itching to blast each other away.
I am glad to see the browser wars return. The internet offers too many possibilities to just keep ignoring the way we interact with it. M$ has lost their chance at providing any real possibilities. I do think this will force them to make changes but they will only follow. They have no interest in pioneering practical advancements in computing. If this aliance does offer what they suggest I will be very excited.
are the two most important skills my small company looks for. Most small companies want someone that can get the basics of the job done but are able to research problems as they arise. Also, count your in class projects as real experience. I was in the same position as you a year and a half ago. I interviewed with my company and was up front with my on the job experiences. I had a well written resume and showed good communication. I was chosen over many applicants with far greater experience because they liked my personality and felt confident I could get the job done regardless of my experiences. Never mail in a resume with out first talking to somebody that works there. Research the company. Interview them as well. You might not want to work for them.
Find out what exactly the company does. Learn about past accomplishment that have been publicized. They want someone that has taken the time to learn about their company. Good luck
I tested your page and found IE much slower. I really enjoy the new version but have noticed that the Firefox browser loads much slower initially than IE. I have tested this on two machines. Anyone else with the same problem?
...is the inability to log into either one of my accounts now. At least I won't run out of space and can keep receiving enlargment messages. I don't know how they ever found out I needed those.
but I will see it any way. I can forsee my dispointment. I have never enjoyed the movie version of any book. The book creates so many personal connections that a movie destroys. Film has to be the worst medium ever created. Why are we all interested in making a movie out of books that are so close to us just to have it ripped away by feeding it to the masses. I fear hearing any reviews of the movie and listening to retards that don't understand the humor making dumb ass coments about it.
