You have to be kidding me. US Senators might only be paid a base salary of 165K or so, but their ability to generate wealth far exceeds the ability of many corporate CEOs.
especially if they're taking money on the side from oil companies like Stevens apparently was doing
It's definitely out of whack. Even if you assume the first movie was Tr0n, this one should be Tr1n. That would even earn some geek/technology cred by sticking to binary and using zero-based indexing, but it might be confusing to the general public.
it could be that they've anticipated an early rush of traffic and held some of the larger items back in order to keep the traffic somewhat under control
IE is undoubtedly worse than Safari and its cryptic error messages when something doesn't work are a big reason not to code anything in IE first, but Safari has had it's issues. It used to be that you could not change the value of a radio button control with JavaScript in Safari. I remember implementing a page that had an extra hidden variable for every radio button that I wanted to have an editable value just because of this particular problem. There are some quirks when reading back values that you've written into an innerHTML (all HTML tags come back capitalized and any HTML comments that were in the string you wrote into the value come back stripped out), but I doubt that is something that many people have run into.
Does Google use its own infrastructure to host AE? I don't know, but if they do I'd trust them a hell of a lot more than AWS.
is it their own hardware and network resources? i'm sure. if AE goes down does that mean that search goes down with it, so they'll have to fix both quickly? not a chance. i'm not sure what "use its own infrastructure" is supposed to mean in this argument, neither company is going to support their free-to-use service as well as their own makes-us-money website

The problem with that theory is that the Joker *is* all bad. Whether he had a plan about how he was going to do it or a motivation to be bad is irrelevant. I loved the movie, but by all rights Dent should have shot the Joker and then *also* gotten revenge on the other people that hurt him.

Given how much of a story Heath Ledger's death was, I find it really difficult to judge his performance fairly. Most every time he comes onto the screen I was thinking "was this the scene that drove him to take all those pills?", which makes it harder to say if he was really immersed in the role (in which case I shouldn't have been thinking about Heath Ledger the actor) or if his ability to immerse in the role is just a victim of the publicity.
It was definitely a good performance, but the true determiner of whether he earns one or not can't be made until we see the rest of the candidates.
your 40 year old Dodge's dashboard has been sitting in the sun for 40 years. go and look at LEGO pieces that have been sitting on a window sill for a significant amount of time and the trusses will not be dead straight (sometimes they won't be even "almost straight").
I think when the grandparent post said "push to the UI" he was trying to say that 3rd party apps can't notify you on the main screen that they have a new message, not that they can't push messages to the phone. is it true that they can't change their home screen icons to indicate new content? if they can't then you can't see that someone has messaged you unless you're already running messenger, and if they can then can they notify you if you're inside another app? even if they can do both of those, i'm almost positive they can't cause the phone to ring or make a tone as a result of new content, so you'll have to be actively using the phone in some manner or another to know there's new content. neither of those problems exist for email or SMS
As far as taking tax dollars then outsourcing, if they were dumb enough not to include a contractual obligation for jobs to remain in the US, there isn't a lot that can be done with it.
if you RTFA (admittedly difficult in this case since there are 9 linked articles), you'll find that they did:
Under the original 2001 agreements, Nielsen has received some $3.1 million in tax incentives for its Oldsmar facility, which includes $1.7 million in breaks from the state and $1.4 million from Oldsmar and Pinellas county. The local incentives run to 2016 and will depend on how many high-paying jobs remain in place during each year of the agreement.
the sun might burn out before your interest in using the code fully wanes, why not just set copyright to expire "after it's clear no one would want this anymore." that covers all cases nicely and also isn't infinite (for example the copyright for the movie "Speed 2: Cruise Control" would have expired immediately)
you subtracted a lot of factors, but they mentioned one new aspect that could offset the 1-cylinder to 2-cylinder switch (though it does say "may"):
Doubling the number of cylinders is sure to cut fuel economy, so VW may install a diesel-hybrid drivetrain.
The efficiency letdown may not be the worst of it though, I'm not sure how many people would appreciate this aspect mentioned in the original Canadian Driver article:
The passenger puts his/her feet on footrests located on the sides of the driver's seat.
it might be tough to convince someone to climb into that sort of a backseat at the start of your first date, that sounds more like a medical exam than a trip to the movies
Worse yet, some things are notoriously difficult to accurately measure sentiment on. Once innuendo and sarcasm become frequent, all hope is lost - you need strong AI to figure that out.
that's why Amazon is easy, you have the stars rating to go by. i think they're just marrying the fact that you mention a particular aspect of the product to your overall rating of the product, and in the end they can make a nice graph saying what the average rating is for a review that mentions a particular aspect.
their definition is not that much further off than the conservative definition of "family farm". as soon as people realize that neither the Democratic Party nor the Republican Party really gives a damn about the majority of Americans who fall between the two income extremes we'll all be much better off.
Sounds to me like you've never worked in a factory.
Ever tried scraping Guinea-pig shit off cages for 8 hours a day, 5 days a week, in stinking "high" summer?
what sort of a factory was this, do they use guinea pigs to drive the assembly line?
don't worry, scientists also discovered that two people who don't understand quantum mechanics can engage in a meaningful conversation on the subject
So what can be the big story they want to tell the President first?
My bet is that they've spent half a day trying to explain to him that "it's not butter"

Saw the original in theaters, can point out the hidden Mickey Mouse.
yes, but can you explain the purpose of the grid bugs?

(Hell, most geeks already know this. Which is a more effective way to stop someone reading your e-mail? Threatening them or encrypting it?)
I knew I was going about this the wrong way!

Does this mean they're only sending spam to people who really need Cialis?

does that mean we'd all get free cars?

oh sure, leave out all the good parts of the story! now tell us how you bridged the gap with the international language of love?
you left out the part about the one-armed man
