    well sure, but i wonder how American Express deals with this same thing as they don't allow amex to be accepted at "adult" businesses.

    have you ever had a credit card? if you go over your credit limit or miss a payment, you effectively get fined (and worse!)

    not in this case. radio stations pay a license to the songwriter, as playing a recording of a particular performance on the radio is considered a separate performance from the original recording.

    Aren't we anyway? I highly doubt that the ad banner revenue from a slashdotting comes close to making up for the downtime, especially when so many slashbots use ad blockers of some sort.

    Or, to put it a better way, OS/X uses much more of your desktop real estate. You will not be able to easily enjoy having your foreground application in the foreground as you might under Linux or Windows. Icons will clutter the screen irrespective of your foreground app.

    Unless you do one of the following very easy things:
    1.) Make your foreground windows bigger
    2.) Make the dock auto-hide
    3.) Quit the Finder

    It's hidden somewhere else. Good luck finding it. Don't think you can right click for it either.

    Yeah, in that reclusive APPLE MENU. Exactly do you right-click to sht down in Windows, anyway?

    You'll basically need to open an application then go through another procedure to maximise it

    Like clicking the zoom button on the window?

    Wrong. Club owners are forced to pay fees to ASCAP/BMI for live performances of published songs. Those guys have agents who go to bars specifically looking for violations of this nature.

    Dances I don't know about.

    I can see you've never had a customer responsible for 50% of your revenue before :) Pay enough money and you get a developer on site.

    Well for one, if the tool is data driven, it just makes more sense to have the database on ONE SERVER rather than as part of an app that you have to store on a million different boxes and then update constantly.

    No, silly, you keep the database on one server and give out little client apps.

    Also, everyone is familiar with the web, the way it works and how to get things done. They don't have to figure out whatever GUI you develop for the tool.

    Yes they do, and you don't have any standard UI guidelines to follow, so it can be as ugly as you want!

    Ogg Vorbis wasn't even created until 1998, and didn't have a stable release until 2002. Meanwhile, MP3 was ready to go and spreading quickly. Sure it had hype, but it also didn't have any competition.

    As for keeping every song you could ever want uncompressed on one hard drive? Maybe if I could afford a 1TB hard drive...

    they seem pretty competitive, right down to the free printer (check the apple store site, you can get a free hp printer with any cpu purchase until october)

    i remember reading a macworld in 1994 showing conceptual designs from the apple industrial design department.

    they had something like this (along with a mac based on the tizio lamp, and a tablet mac)

    too bad gateway got it to market a few years ago :)
