if people expect ANY government to either not be interested in developments in other countries OR not to protect information on its own developments, they are ignorant.
not in this case. radio stations pay a license to the songwriter, as playing a recording of a particular performance on the radio is considered a separate performance from the original recording.
Aren't we anyway? I highly doubt that the ad banner revenue from a slashdotting comes close to making up for the downtime, especially when so many slashbots use ad blockers of some sort.
Or, to put it a better way, OS/X uses much more of your desktop real estate. You will not be able to easily enjoy having your foreground application in the foreground as you might under Linux or Windows. Icons will clutter the screen irrespective of your foreground app.
Unless you do one of the following very easy things: 1.) Make your foreground windows bigger 2.) Make the dock auto-hide 3.) Quit the Finder
It's hidden somewhere else. Good luck finding it. Don't think you can right click for it either.
Yeah, in that reclusive APPLE MENU. Exactly do you right-click to sht down in Windows, anyway?
You'll basically need to open an application then go through another procedure to maximise it
Wrong. Club owners are forced to pay fees to ASCAP/BMI for live performances of published songs. Those guys have agents who go to bars specifically looking for violations of this nature.
From the article: "It's a law, sir; if someone comes along and downloads child photography (that wasn't the exact word the officer used) and it goes through their [sc., the access point owner's] connection, that's a violation and we've had cases of that. That's a felony."
Well for one, if the tool is data driven, it just makes more sense to have the database on ONE SERVER rather than as part of an app that you have to store on a million different boxes and then update constantly.
No, silly, you keep the database on one server and give out little client apps.
Also, everyone is familiar with the web, the way it works and how to get things done. They don't have to figure out whatever GUI you develop for the tool.
Yes they do, and you don't have any standard UI guidelines to follow, so it can be as ugly as you want!
Ogg Vorbis wasn't even created until 1998, and didn't have a stable release until 2002. Meanwhile, MP3 was ready to go and spreading quickly. Sure it had hype, but it also didn't have any competition.
As for keeping every song you could ever want uncompressed on one hard drive? Maybe if I could afford a 1TB hard drive...
they seem pretty competitive, right down to the free printer (check the apple store site, you can get a free hp printer with any cpu purchase until october)
really? i remember the BME getting rather angry about being classed as an adult business and not allowed to accept amex
the issue is not necessarily secrecy, but knowing you can get that data back exactly when you want to.
well sure, but i wonder how American Express deals with this same thing as they don't allow amex to be accepted at "adult" businesses.
have you ever had a credit card? if you go over your credit limit or miss a payment, you effectively get fined (and worse!)
I emailed him about this and received in reply:
Good catch. They changed it back since last week. Too bad the company won't
take my calls! Wonder why they changed it back! Tell me that. Herb
actually, apple had develop a new type of motor in order to boost the capacity to 400k on one side of a 3.5" floppy.
it got modded flamebait by the liberal media, obviously...
i'm not so sure that bush's plan of ending our dependence on foreign oil by blowing up all countries that supply it is all that great.

the hanford site was used to develop nuclear weapons material before anyone knew anything about nuclear power. -1 irrelevant.
so you'll only be convinced by invalid straw man arguments?

Like clicking the zoom button on the window?
Sheesh, remind me to reload before replying next time...

Dances I don't know about.
sheesh, `ssh neo@the_matrix` requires 2 fewer keystrokes!
Or the one written and managed by a single company who, yes, has talented developers, but none of whom are on-site working with you?
:) Pay enough money and you get a developer on site.
I can see you've never had a customer responsible for 50% of your revenue before
From the summary:

No profiling, my ass.
The above post is proof the mods are insane idiots who mod up any comment that appears to be pro apple.
The above post is proof that there are Slashdotters who don't understand logic.

That proves nothing except that Slashdot submitters and editors can't spell "competitor".

i remember reading a macworld in 1994 showing conceptual designs from the apple industrial design department.
:)
they had something like this (along with a mac based on the tizio lamp, and a tablet mac)
too bad gateway got it to market a few years ago
