    I have friends in the exact same situation. You can get plenty of exposure in a restricted area by promoting to the same people and being DAMN GOOD.

    you're forgetting OOSQL (which is basically completely different) and all the various DBMS-particular languages like Oracle's PL/SQL

    i've got a weekly radio show on a local college station from midnight to 3AM. this means that currently i can play music with as much nasty language as i want, as long as i don't say any bad words into the microphone. ("indecent" material is explicitly allowed between 10pm and 6am)

    i'm not quite sure where this new thing leaves me. hrmm...

    using jack and alsa together IS a pragmatic issue. ALSA deals with supporting hardware, and jack shuffles data from apps to ALSA. simple as that.

    if you want audio support that works consistently, why bother with linux?
