"What really bothers me about this is how it floods the entire market and drowns out any independant artists who are actually giving away mp3's for free, while trying to make money by actually playing music. That's what most of us really want to see anyway -- the actual live band."
i've got a weekly radio show on a local college station from midnight to 3AM. this means that currently i can play music with as much nasty language as i want, as long as i don't say any bad words into the microphone. ("indecent" material is explicitly allowed between 10pm and 6am)
i'm not quite sure where this new thing leaves me. hrmm...
um, slashdot has always linked to other people's stories. this is nothing new, and i recognize your username as being one that's been around awhile, and you have a karma bonus. did someone steal your password?
I have friends in the exact same situation. You can get plenty of exposure in a restricted area by promoting to the same people and being DAMN GOOD.

So go see them. Nobody's stopping you.
you're forgetting OOSQL (which is basically completely different) and all the various DBMS-particular languages like Oracle's PL/SQL
ogg vorbis goes beyond 24-bit 96kHz audio? in 7.1 channels? anything less than that is behind the times, my friend.
i can't tell if what you're saying is too complicated for me to understand or maybe you're just crazy.
I think ALL of slashdot is the 'short bus' version.
Abandonware has nothing to do with whether the source is available.
you have done nothing except prove the parent's point.
reading these two comments, i still can't decide.
who's the more foolish: the fool or the fool who follows him?
A vast majority of people think Britney Spears songs are high quality music. Do you want to be one of them, too?
"they do not have any clearly defined guidelines."
:)
whatever. that makes them easier to ignore!

hey, at least they didn't try to make movies out of the ten-novel Mission Earth series.
Bullet wounds often cause hydrostatic shock, so you may very well get nasty brain hemorrhaging from a bullet shot to the torso.
using jack and alsa together IS a pragmatic issue. ALSA deals with supporting hardware, and jack shuffles data from apps to ALSA. simple as that.
if you want audio support that works consistently, why bother with linux?
software mixing is JACK's job.
p.s.
:)
nice userid
what is this 'home of the underdogs'? the only copy of tyrian i've seen is the demo version on my uncle's dead computer
right. it's a different question. whether anyone makes money off a record has absolutely fuck-all to do with file sharing or copyright law.
that's a completely different issue. a "Straw man" as they say.
afaik, the comanche worked fine, but it's one of those things you don't need when there's no soviet union to fight with.
mplayer can do that with the aalib output plugin.
i don't recall there being a third jurassic park novel. could be a clue.
